Re: Asian Augmentation Rhinoplasty (Asian Nose Lift) - Cartilage Graft/ Autologous Graft at Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok.

I'm writing this today with only one hope that someone will give me some good advices on Asian Augmentation Rhinoplasty using the Cartilage Graft technique at Bumrungrad Hospital. I would really really appreciate your help on giving me correct answers and share your real stories.

I thought about getting this surgery done in London but then decide to leave the UK and thinking that Bumrungrad Hospital probably has the best plastic surgeons in Thailand. I've been doing my research on Asian Augmentation Rhinoplasty on the internet for a long long time so I do understand this type of plastic surgery but I have never been to Bumrungrad and have not arranged anything yet with them.

I am looking for the best, the most skilful and the most experienced surgeon specifically trained in the field of Augmentation Rhinoplasty using Cartilage Graft and Reduction the size of the flared nasal nostril on Asian (Oriental) Woman at Bumrungrad. I need a plastic surgeon to use an autologous graft technique, which harvested from my nasal septal cartilage, ear cartilage, ribs, or bone. I DO NOT want a surgeon that uses a synthetic grafts or implants that made from Silicone, Gortex or PTFE. And am also looking for the total price for this surgery too as people quoted the price so different from what it's said on their website. And finally I'd love to hear stories about this surgery, any advantages or disadvantages, everything I need to know really.

I'd like to ask anyone who has had Augmentation Rhinoplasty by cartilage craft at Bumrungrad Hospital a few questions below:

1. Out of the surgeons' list provided at Bumrungrad International Hospital - who is the best, the most skilful and the most experienced plastic surgeon specifically trained in the field of Augmentation Rhinoplasty using Cartilage Graft (Autologous graft, harvested from your own body) and Reduction the size of the flared nasal nostril technique on Asian (Oriental) Woman?

2. And why is he the best? Has he really studied in the United States or is he truly certified by an American Board Member Surgeon? (Please note that surgeons who have more experience with Reduction Rhinoplasty on Caucasian does not mean he has the same experience with Augmentation Rhinoplasty on Asian as these two procedures are totally opposite, so could you please advice me the one who does best at Asian Nose Lift?).

3. Will the surgeon use an Open Technique or Close for this surgery on me?

4. Does plastic surgeon at Bumrungrad uses certified anesthesiologist during surgery? Will I be safe at Bumrungrad after a general anesthesia?

5. Does the plastic surgeon still do a good job if he knows Im only there by myself? (I will not come with a family member, only go by myself).

6. How much does this surgery cost in total at Bumrungrad?

7. Do I have to pay for a consultation with the surgeon?

8. And finally, is it easy to arrange travel and acommodation to come to Bangkok for this surgery? Would it be cheaper to stay at one of those Hotels in Khao San Road or is it too far from Bumrungrad?

Thank You very much for any of your help.

Yes, you have to pay for a consultation with the surgeon but the cost is low (under 1000 baht) for initial consultation. I suggest that you contact the hospital directly with your other questions. This way you will get more informed answers.

Dr Amorn Poomee is widely regarded as one of the foremost plastic surgeons specialising in this area who practices at Bumrungrad. I know of several people close to me which have had extensive work done by him with excellent results. Bumrungrad has an excellent reputation as an international hospital, and likewise Bangkok General Hospital which is a private facility.

It is easy to arrange travel and transportation. It would be cheaper to stay at a guesthouse on Khao San, but personally I would recommend you stay in Sukhumvit near the hospital. There is no shortage of reasonably priced hotels in the area. Perhaps if you gave us your hotel budget, we could give you more specific recommendations.

You could consider booking a surgeon consultation via Cosmedic Jetaways

There will be no consultation fees at all, only if you decide to go ahead with surgery which can be scheduled the exact same day to save time and traveling.

My wife used them last year and it was exceptional service with good communication and professional staff.

I believe the hospital is also a private one but cheaper than bummungrad

goodluck and godbless!

Hi Model,

I'm planning to have a rhinoplasty (Asian nose as well) and eyelid surgery at Bumrungrad in a few months. My first preference was Dr. Poomee but he has referred me to other surgeons, stating he generally does rhino and eyelid surgery on Caucasians. I was very disappointed and back to square one in researching surgeons. I would be interested to hear how your surgery went, which surgeon you used and if you are happy with the work that was done.

There is so much info and reviews on BAs but not so much on eyes and rhino. I've read that for eyes, one should get a surgeon who specializes in eyes and with rhino to use a surgeon who specializes in noses. Can't seem to find a surgeon who specializes in both. Dr. Teerasit has great reviews but no mention of noses. Dr. Montien specialists in nose but can't find much reviews on him and not sure how he would go with eyes.

I've been dealing with GHT. Everyone in the web have given them great reviews, saying how quick they are in responding to queries. My experience has been quite the opposite and just not getting the information I need so have had to turn to these forums for help.

Hope to hear from you :)

The few noses I've seen on Asians where they've had the bridge built up by a surgeon generally look awful and I would counsel against it.

Hi Katana,

I'm pleased to advise no bridge surgery required for me :)

Just tip and nostrils, my bridge is decent for an Asian nose keke

Hi

I'm booked for rhinoplasty with Dr Montien at Bumrungrad Hospital in two weeks and I was just wondering whether anybody knows what medications he typically prescribes for after surgery healing. I just like to do a bit of research about what I'm putting into my body.

Also, does any body know where I can buy arnica tablets in Thailand? I'm in Koh Samui at the moment and will be in Pattaya and Bangkok also prior to surgery so shops/pharmacies that stock arnica in these areas would be great. Also, similarly, if anybody knows where I can get bromelain, that would be good too.
