Buying Booze At Big-c

Well, after almost 2 weeks in Pattaya, I finally managed to get out my bed early enough to go to the shops proper instead of the local 7-11. Went to grab a couple of bottles of wine and was told i couldnt buy any booze until 5pm. Is this a law or just a Big-C thing? Thought Sweden was bad for buying carry-outs, but this is daft! That's the last time I surface before darkness! :o

It's the law. It's supposed to prevent kids from buying alcohol. TiT. :o

The good thing is most supermarkets are open 24/7 ...

I know the 7-11's are open 24/7 but i don't think the supermarkets are, they usually close around 10-11pm, don't they?

I think sales are limited to 11:00 - 14:00 and then 17:00 - Midnight?

Purchasing in excess of 10 Litres is permitted during these times when sales of a single bottle are not.

Restriction on sales affects 7-11 as well, but if you try a small corner shop you will be fine during these dry periods.

I have worked in Sweden - yes even crazy Thailand is better than Swedish law.

Foodland is open 24/7. I think the same goes for Best and Friendship.

...as is the Tesco on the dark side.

Booze can be problematic in the more oganized stores out of hours. The tills won't let the staff sell it. The small Thai shops are a little more flexible. :o
