How To Get An Affidavat Of Residence?

Featured Replies

I know in order to get an avffidavit of residence you must have an year visa....

So no multiple year visa.. but a real year visa.. that's easy to get when you are over 50, but I am not so it's out of the question for me.

then there is an other way.. to get it.. if you have an yellow book.. but you only get a yellow book when you are registred in you house.. and you can only do that when you have a year visa, wich i can't get.

"Then i could go to the ambassy to get it.. but they won't give it either because I am also still registred in my home country.

So can anybody help how to get it? I just want a @[email protected] drivinglicense!!!

Kalbo, I'm assuming you already read this thread in its entirity?

Buried somewhere in there I think I read a member stating that he recently got a drivers license, without having a 1 year visa.

I'm not sure if that is correct or not.

However, to get a Certificate of Residency, you now must apply to your home nation's nearest consulate or embassy.

See this link for complete info. Some of the rules re: 1 yr visa might have changed. Best way to verify that is to go to the Dept of Land Transportation, go to the second floor, window 25, and ask the staff there. They will be able to tell you exactly what is required now (see link for directions, etc.).

Good Luck!

I recently got my Cert of Residency fr the US Consulate while I was between visas and existing as a simple 'tourist' with no problem. They just wanted me to swear that my place of residence was my place of residence and pay the money, and voila, done. (Fait acomplee ?) I do think the Thai DMV does want you to have the real visa, though I'm not sure. I'll be reading the other threads McG points too as I want my proper Thai license too now that I've got me new Non B in hand.
