Looking For A Chiang Mai Hotel With Good Net Access

Featured Replies

I'm going to go to Chiang Mai for a few days next week and need to find a good hotel with good internet access in the rooms.

I dont want to spend a fortune (upto about 3000-4000 baht / day) but would like I nice hotel near to the bars / restaurants.

I've never been to Chiang Mai before.

Any recommendations ?

We've stayed at the Montri Hotel several times:

Free airport pickup and delivery, 7-8 fast email stations downstairs at reasonable cost, very good apple pie, Tuskers Bar walking distance (a Thai Visa sponsor), travel agent next door, right on the sontaew line, good rooms (not hard beds), eateries in-house or along the street, really great night market on the street next door.

Mac

I stayed at the Buri Gallery last year. 800b a night for a perfectly ok room with a PC in it with high speed net access.

I also think the Montri is a good value, and the guest rooms (not posh, but adequate) now have free wifi. When I stayed there in March 2008 the rate was still only 750 baht without breakfast, 1000 baht with. Unless things have changed recently, it should be noted that the big Ratchadamnoen Road/Thapae Gate market is only on Sundays.

Amazing how different tastes/experiences are. I thought the rooms were boxlike, hmmm, not even a large box, and had that stuffy unaired feeling. Even in that price bracket which is way below the budget of the OP there are many better places available, at his budget there are some sublime places available. Had a look around asiahotels.com or asiarooms ?

Good net access in CM? Good luck. I was in CM recently for several weeks. Only place I was able to get decent wireless was at Maze Cafe on Nimin. Perhaps some might condescendingly refer to this establishment as trendy and expensive. I detest labels. And just call it dope.

Good service and good food.

PS Someone really needs to beef up the pipe to CM. Hurting
