Owing to a massive cock-up my Visa (non-im O) was cancelled upon my return to LOS, as I was under the assumption that my re-entry permit was valid for more than one entry

I went to CM immigration, they were very understanding, but said that as I only had a 30 day visa now I would have to go to Mae Sai and then to Bangkok and that I would have to show a monthly income of 40,000 Baht to renew the same type of visa.

Well apart from all the hassle, it would cost me 2,000 baht a month in charges to get 40,000 baht over, so they suggested that I go for a retirement visa instead.

Fine by me, I do not work anyway.

They said if I can show 800,000 in my bank by Tuesday they can do a new visa on the spot.

Well I have made a transfer of 500k to top my account up to this amount, so no problem there, but they did not ask me to bring anything else but a letter of confimation from the bank that I had 800k in it. (I am assuming that as long as it shows 800k it does not need to be a transfer of 800k in one go?)

I am worried that when I get there they will ask for more dicumentation, (obviously I no longer need my marriage certificate, I have a letter of residency from the British Embassy which I got when I purchased a car. Will I need to show that?

Is there anything else I will need to show?

You might have to show the wife. If doing a direct change from marriage to retirement it is required that she sign her understanding of your change in status. As you have a mess in between not sure how they will handle. I would definitely have updated passbook and copies to match the letter. I would be prepared for an extra 2,000 baht charge also (for new visa) but if they did not mention that, and doing the extension immediately, perhaps not.
