Any Keen Cyclists Out There ?

Featured Replies

Just wondering if there is anybody interested in road racing in the Bangkok/Pattaya area ?? l do triathlons, but l can't find to many like minded people in Pattaya. Does anyone know if there is a triathlon or road racing club in the above mentioned areas. Also could anyone recommend a cycling shop that could service top-end bikes. Thanks Mark

Sorry cant help for Pattya. I am starting work in Phuket in Mid August and bringing my road bike from Australia. Hoping to find training partners and also a good bike shop mechanic.

I go to LA Bikes on Thepprasit Road, Pattaya and the guy there, who is very pleasant and speaks quite good English, seems very competent with straightforward jobs like adjusting my Shimano Deore stuff. I don't know, however, what he would be like on say rebuilding a bottom bracket or wheel truing. I have seen a couple of pricey looking Cannondale and Marin bikes in his shop for servicing so I presume their owners must have trusted him.

I have never come across any competitive cycling in the Pattaya area - traffic there would make road racing additional hazardous, I imagine - but I have seen what appears to be a cycling club with about a dozen local guys out for week-end spins. They are never moving all that fast (I'm always relieved I am going in the opposite direction so I don't have to worry about their reaction to being overtaken by a oldie!) so I think it is probably more of a social, touring thing than a racing club.

hey, I live a bit east of Rayong and finally starting to get back on the road again, and hopefully in tri shape a bit later. just checked out a small shop in rayong that seemed like had a competant mechanic and some higher end parts, mostly mtb though. looks like they have a bunch of guys that go out riding together, they're about opposite the homepro. an LA bike shop a little bit more down the road also, haven't been there though. not sure where abouts you are, but i can travel a bit on sundays possibly. anyone here of any amature road races in thailand in the future??

I live in Phuket. There are some great roads and hills to ride here. Also a really top bike shop with great mechanic in Thalang. Same guy who is official mechanic for Laguna triathlon.

I am keen to find other guys to ride with also.
