I think it s rather rich to commercialize what is free in essence.

Also if your Thai is not up to par, how are you going 'to study with the monks'

as the website promotes?

Although, as you can see from my details, I am living in Fang, and this course is also based in Fang, I would like to point out that it is not my organisation.

I was approached by the author of this to see if I would help with the instruction.

It is merely an option. An option being made available to those who are interested in learning more about Buddhism, and doing so in the local environment of a Thai temple. We know that courses in Buddhism and meditation are available in most countries now, so there is no requirement for people to travel far to do so, but there are some who would like to experience it in its own home.

Different strokes for different folks...as the saying goes.

It is not easy to find such instruction here in Thailand because most monks do not speak English that well. Even temples with a large following of westerners coming to receive instruction in Vipassana meditation, such as Wat Rampoeng, Chiangmai, do not give any Dhamma instruction, their course being intensive meditation only.

I have often had Western meditators there mention their slight disappointment that there was no dhamma instruction or introduction to buddhism given, and since I was also a meditation student I had to refrain from talking, so i was a bit frustrated at not being able to help them either.

Which wat is used for the program, Wat Tha Ton?

cheersw for your suggestions, decided Im going to go to Nepal, seems like quite alot there

Which wat is used for the program, Wat Tha Ton?

actually I cannot answer that as I have only been there once. Not at ThaTon. It is a large temple beside the main road, very close to the turn off to the oil refinery about 7Km outside of Fang town, and is also a teaching temple so many monks/novices from the surrounding area go there each day to study.
