Lunar eclipse to be visible this Sunday 17th

BANGKOK: -- Deputy Director-General of the National Astronomical Research Institute of the Ministry of Science and Technology Doctor Saran Poshyachinda (ศรัณย์ โปษยะจินดา) revealed that Thailand will experience a Lunar Eclipse at 1:24 AM this Sunday August 17th as the moon moves into earth's shadow.

Once the moon is eclipsed at approximately 2:36 AM observers will be able to notice parts of it obscured until reaching a maximum concealment of 81 percent of its visible surface. Once the moon is completely covered by the earth's shadow it will appear to be a brick red color and will remain so until approximately 6:55 AM. Doctor Saran reminds that the interesting event occurs only 1-2 times a year and is not always visible.

Doctor Saran states that interested people can view the event with their naked eye by facing west at the mentioned times, weather permitting.
