Best Prenatal Care/birth Doctor/hospital In Pattaya

I can't believe it. It's finally happened. My girlfried and I found out today that she's pregnant! I'm 44, so, for me, I was coming up on the time where I was beginning to consider whether or not it was a good idea to have a child. It's still a good time :o

Is there anyone here that has had a good (or bad) with any of the doctors/hospitals in Pattaya regarding prenatal care and birth. Although cost is an issue in that I've read quite a few posts from folks that have been subjected to some dubious pricing, I'm really interested in finding the hostpital with the best doctor and care.

Unfortunately, for now, I work abroad. The timing on this was perfect in that I was able to schedule a last minute trip here to visit (I had no idea before scheduling). In the few days I'm here, I'd like to get as many things settled as possible so I can rest a little easier while abroad.

Cheers!

We had our baby last July (13 months ago) in Pattaya at the Pattaya International Hospital. Great anti-natal care (I strongly suggest you get a package for this as well at the same hospital you think you'll want as it is easier and don't bother with the Thai doctors doing it at their surgery as you can wait hours in line each month then every two weeks !).

Ended up a caesarian and all great with 3 nights and 4 days but they padded the bill and then tried to fabricate the figures for certain items to justify the higher figure. Didn't work as they had stupidly provided me with the real costs. Even then they would not admit a mistake. They eventually did but then said the person who agreed it was wrong had left their employment. True or not I don't know. I didn't believe them. The staff were excellent though.

I emailed Bangkok Pattaya Hospital during early pregnancy and they gave me some quotes for packages but could not answer why some items were not included and came up with some rubbish about 10k extra for this and that. So we did not use them.

I suggest having your partner go with another Thai not mentioning you are the father, let them assume he is Thai. Even better is she has a Thai brother in town. Failing that, set up an email address in Thai and write in Thai or english asking for packages and that the family would like a "nice" hospital but are concerned about the cost. Sort of indicate they are clubbing together for this.

Also try BPH for their (paid) discount card. I don't know if you can use it in conjunction with pregnancy but worth investigating. Check out the expat clubs for discounts at both places.

If you have transport then your options are more varied. The Navy hospital has some good reviews as does one in Sri Ratcha but they are not immediate to your home perhaps ?

Banglamung can be had on VIP for a fraction of the private ones but up to you. Memorial would be ok for certain things but I am not sure about child birth.

Perhaps you'd better consider just how big a factor the budget is, whether you have transport and where you live. Come back if you have any further questions.

Finally, congratulations.
