PAD Lay Siege On Government House, NBT TV Station

NBT showing video - believe it or not it's not as biased as you think, Tony.

The video clearly shows DAAD protesters opening up the barricades - and walking right through the police, who did not even attempt to stop them. They weren't armed with batons as per orders, but you think they could've at least tried to use their riot shields as an additional barricade?

In this particular case, Tony, I'd have to say that your "theory" about the coincidence of the police order for shields only has to be seriously considered.

NBT transmits graphic as well images yes, as for their accompanying comments... very one-sided.

Thai Protesters Clash in Bangkok as Police Blockade Breached

By Daniel Ten Kate

Sept. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Thousands of protesters clashed violently this morning nearby Thailand's government house in Bangkok after a police blockade separating pro and antigovernment supporters was breached.

Several gunshots were heard and at least 20 protesters from both sides were injured and some were seen being taken away by ambulance.

About 1,000 unarmed police in riot gear were attempting to block the two groups, most of whom were wearing motorcycle helmets and wielding wooden batons and PVC pipes, as of 1:55 a.m. in Bangkok.

The People's Alliance for Democracy, a group seeking the resignation of Thai Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej, has occupied government house for seven days.

Pro-government Thai mob marches toward rivals

BANGKOK, Thailand: Pro-government demonstrators are marching through the streets of the Thai capital of Bangkok to the offices of the prime minister that are occupied by anti-government protesters.

Associated Press journalists saw a rowdy crowd of about 500 people, some carrying sticks and wearing helmets, traveling on foot and by motorcycle, scuffling with police as they tried to make their way to Government House in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Government House, which holds the offices of Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej, has been occupied since Aug. 26 by members of the People's Alliance for Democracy. The group is demanding the premier's resignation.

Just what i expexted, but was hoping would not happen, when the Samak/Thaskin alliance started paying people to start trouble against the PAD. At least one PAD member was shot and taken to hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

Drunken and stoned thugs, with the help of their police buddies, attacking a peaceful demonstration. There is your Samak democracy in action again.

This is sad. The attackers belong in rehab, not on the street, getting paid to start trouble. What a truly evil government, setting this all up.

Yes...like you...I was expecting it too.

I hope Samak and his croneys will fall hard for this

I doubt that.

Samak's response would be a shrug of his shoulder saying it's just a teenager street brawl, nothing worth mentioning, just like how the government response to the DAAD attack on the PADs in Udon.

Furthermore, one of the injured PAD in the clash in Udon was charged by the police for illegal gathering after she was discharged from hospital while the DAAD assailant + leader-intigator roams free and still hosting a Radio Station promoting violence against the PAD on a daily basis.

I heard what seemed like those whistling fireworks being lit, probably aimed at people, that could explain the ambulances.

Gunshots came from DAAD if the cops were unarmed as they said today. One guy seemed escorted by undercover cops, could be a shooter.

Chanel 3 went back to it's Korean soap. :o

I think it was mentioned on PAD stage that the DAAD mob was given alcohool and 500 baht at SAnam Luang

Are they still giving out the alcohol? It's past 2am and my 7-11 won't sell me beer. :o

If you look at the video, LEO beer bottles were what was thrown. I guess that's what you call free ammunition.

BANGKOK, Sept 2 (Reuters) - At least 22 people were hurt in clashes on Tuesday between supporters of Thai Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej and anti-government protesters in Bangkok, a Health Ministry official said.

A TV report that one person had been killed in the skirmishes near Government House, occupied by protesters demanding Samak's resignation since last week, could not be confirmed. (Reprting by Nopporn Wong-Anan, writing by Darren Schuettler; Editing by Sami Aboudi)

Soldiers armed with shields are deployed to clash site

Hundreds of soldiers and police were deployed to the site where pro-and anti-government protesters clashed, Army Commander in Chief Gen Anupong Paojinda said at 2.09am Tuesday

He said he will deploy hundreds of soldiers armed with shields and batons to stop the clash and to prevent it from escalating. However he said what the army could do is only to help stop the clash.

Anupong said such incident should not have happened.

At 1.20am, hundreds of pro-government protesters, armed with batons, axes and big knives, march from Sanam Luang to the Government House.

They managed to go through the police line who guarded the area.

As of 1.40am, when they arrived at Pan Fa Bridge, they clashed with guards of People's Alliance for Democracy who were deployed to guard the area. The bridge is about 300 metres from the Government House.

Shinawatra Pabunchart, leader of pro-government protesters claimed that his men have already surrounded the Government House at 2am on Tuesday in a bid to oust anti-government protesters from the Government House.

He said he will allow the protesters in the Government House to go out but wil not allow anybody to enter the compound.

Going to have to see what develops in the coming hours. Although Anupong repeats that the military will not intervene, he may have no choice - but at the moment, there is no reported movement of troops from the surrounding provinces, as Bangkok has only a small military presence.

Such a small group could have been handled very easily.

You can see the death toll from Songkran already just by looking at this, another miserable failure to add in the pile.

Head honcho of police in a black jacket holding 2 phones clearly looks like he was on the bottle tonight, trying to explain something to a superior looking at in a strange way, priceless. :o

I can't remember the new Chief of police's name, neither will you, it was his first and last day on the job. :D

That also explains my earlier conspiracy, hel_l just go to an inactive post until retirement.

Channel 7 reports that the majority (from early reports) of injured are from DAAD. NBT is now reporting 3 dead, and that about 400 military personnel are being deployed to assist police in trying to keep the two groups apart.

The new police chief is Jongrak Chutthanond - and he is already being briefed on-site.

Shinawatra claims that more people from other provinces will travel to Bangkok to join the confrontation with the PAD protests.

I hope the PAD has reinforcements somewhere.

Most of the pro-government protesters were teenagers and some of them were drunk, Thai TV station reported early Tuesday morning.

A reporter said that he could smell alcohol from them and believe they were intoxinated.

Most of them wore red headbands and t-shirts. I wonder if they were from Uthen Thawai or Pathumwan Technology campuses. Or they could be just be motorcycle taxi drivers that are pissed off because their free booze ran out.

Good thing that it is the peaceful PAD protesting and not me. By now I would have gotten all the weapons from inside government house to protect myself. Three people dead already.

Hope the Army steps in and gets rid of Samak and his paid hitmen right away.

This really sucks. I was hoping it would go fairly peaceful (either way). That's Samak's second massacre..first in 1992 and now again.

These are people with families. I know they took the risk when they went there to demonstrate, but this still should not happen. This government and their thugs have to go and they have to go fast.

I can't believe it....they get the attackers drunk, pay them and let them march through the city fully armed with knives, clubs, etc., without the police trying to stop them.

I agree...the whole thing was staged...starting with saying that the police will only carry shields from now on, then paying the DAAD thugs to come to Bangkok to start a riot...then having the police quietly move aside for the thugs. Does Samak think that the world is stupid?

I knew that people would see the true TRT/PPP colours sooner or later, but I wish it would have happened without violence. I'm very sad right now :-(

The report I heard was that 200 vehicles, mostly from Chiang Mai and Kalasin, were to bring more DAAD supporters to Bangkok. Heard it about half an hour ago on TNN, but forgot to post it.

Don't forget about the October 6 1976 massacre at Thammasat. Although, according to Samak only 1 person died there, so maybe that one doesn't count.

I hope that PAD has lots of reinforcements, too, because they are running low on water and have no protection against the tear gas. There are a lot of young children at the Government Grounds, too, women and elderly people. They sent the younger men to hold the line ealier. My wife is exhausted and went to sleep a few minutes ago, so I don't have a translater anymore.

I sure hope that the military will step between to two sides and restores peace. Some of you know that there is no love lost between the military and the police, so since the police is more or less responsible for these injuries and deaths, I would think that the military would move in ASAP. At least I hope so
