Interesting Cover Versions Of Songs

Featured Replies

Does anyone know any interesting covers of songs? By interesting I mean sang in a different way, not just a straight forward cover...

I really like Groove Armada's version of Crazy for You by Madonna. You can listen to it here

Duran Duran's remake of the hip hop classic 'White Lines' :D

Absolutely horrible... their high pitched voices made me wonder if they had, had the chop. :o

There is a music mag called Uncut which puts out a free CD most months with covers of songs on. This month it is the whole of the Beatles White Album covered.

Check out Cat Powers cover of Satisfaction

The Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain covering Anarchy in the UK

Nouvelle Vague doing the Clash's Guns of Brixton

Jonny Cashs cover of Hurt by 9 inch nails is a classic

Cheers for that, I'll check out some of those. Have to say I prefer Nine Inch Nails' version of Hurt.

Lucy in The Sky With Diamonds by William Shatner. Come to think of it, any song sung by William Shatner.

Pat Boone covering Metallica's "Enter Sandman"

Stairway to Heaven by Dolly Parton is wonderful! :o

Unlike the Rolf Harris version :D

Ooops sorry The Magazine is actually MOJO from the UK. And the White Album is covered over two months as it is a double album. Still top quality though

tori amos' album 'strange little girls' has some interesting cover versions on. her version of the beatles' 'happiness is a warm gun' is good.

That's weird, when I clicked to that site from Google, I had no problem listening to it.

But when I copy and pasted the link to the page itself, I would need to register to listen. Weird.

OK click on this google link and then click the first result, the song should load and play.

Anti-Nowhere League had a "big hit" with that in the good ole days of '81.

Well, for me some of the most interesting cover versions in recent years are on the Paul Anka CD ' Rock Swings'.

Not all the tunes he covers on the CD are a complete detachment from the original songs, but the 'swing' arrangement of the following 3 tracks I thought was impressive (being a fan of the originals and a swing fan).

1. 'Smells Like Teen Spirit" By Nirvana

2. 'Love Cats' by The Cure

3. 'Wonderwall' by Oasis
