From the main land send it by train. Go to GTrider.com and you'll find a few members have chosen to do this with success.

Dare, ferry to Don Sak, hang a right to Surat Thani hang a right and keep going till you get to Kanchaaburi. A real nice ride which Ive done many times. You may want to plan an overnight in Hua Hin but it can be done in the one go if you are in a hurry. Go on I DARE you. :o
