Wondering if any body out there would like to get together for some gaming.  Been in los since 01 and one of the things i miss most from life before is gaming.  gamed a few times here with students from my university, or visiting friends, but it would be cool to get a bigger group of gamers going.   I'd played many different games before, anything from Dungeons & Dragons, Champions, Warhammer 40K, Vampire, Call of Cthulu, and am willing to run, play, or learn new games too.

I've found two gaming stores in BKK so far, one at MBK on the 6th floor, that riums Mechwarrior, Heroclix, and MageKnight tournaments, and one in Siam Discovery, on the 5th floor, which specializes in GamesWorkshop projects, primarly Warhammer 40k and such.   Anybody know other gamer-friendly establishments?

When you say gaming, I start to think about casinos.  Anybody up for a trip to Cambodia?  Come to think of it, has anybody here ever been to Cambodian casinos?  What type of games do they offer?

I was in a casino at the Poipet border crossing about 3 weeks ago.  It was my first time, and although the area outside was pretty sketchy (lots of refugees, stragglers) the casino I was in was pretty nice.  Nothing to be compared with Vegas, but more like a Indian tribe casino, nice but not overly fancy.  Clientale was mostly rich Thais, with a few farangs here and there.  All the pit bosses were farang though, mostly european.

I had come only for a visa run, so my time was short but I picked up some 1000 baht in chips and headed to what looked like a blackjack table, which is the game i do best at in Vegas.  The casino actually doesnt have blackjack, and the game was actually "pontoon" which is a lot like blackjack, except no "10's" in the game.  I did all right, went up and down for about an hour or so on the 1000 baht.  I might have lost more, but you have to leave the table and go to the cashier to get more chips, you can't trade money for chips at the table.  An austrailian next to me started with 1000 too and was up over 4000 by the time i left, but he had played pontoon before and knew the bet chart better.

They also appeared to have a lot of other games too.  I saw Bacharrat, Pai Gow, and I think I saw roullette and some dice games too.  Lots of wheel of fortune crap and slots as well.

I also had a free meal at the buffet, which mostly sucked but had at least decent bacon, but i'd avoid it in the future.

I was told there are also 2-3 other casino's just a short walk away, but i didn't really go look around as i was short of time.

I also looked into what the casino rented rooms for, they looked nice on the brochere, and they started at 1800 a night.   I figured if i wanted to go back to do some gambling, you'd have to stay the night at least because i saw a sign at the border saying the office closed at 5pm daily, and its about 5 hours or so from Bangkok.

Regarding Poipet casinos.

I have been there several times. Poipet has 7 casinos.

Most of them have the real Blackjack, also with wins on each 7 you get, if you bet 25 Baht.

Regarding the hotels at the casino. BEWARE! Don't buy chips at the hotels. Many hotels offer you a free room and free meals and drinks, if you buy chips. BUT... it's fraud.... these chips means that when you enter the casino, you have to bet more than the minimum, and also if you win, and go to the cashier to exchange, then they will charge you 20%!!

Cheaper to rent and pay for your room and meals!

Regarding casinos.... i often play at online casinos at the Internet.

I can recommend this link to Captain Cooks Casino, the biggest Internet casino.
