Does anyone know if there's Brazilian jiu-jitsu/ grappling in Chaing Mai? I've been here for 2 months and haven't found anything. Pedro Lott (a brown belt from BTT) was at Chay Yai Gym, but now he's in Australia. I'd be interested in any BJJ/ grappling clubs too if anything like that is out there. I've been training for about 6 years and am nearly a purple belt if that makes a difference. Please let me know if you have any info/ suggestions. Thanks.

I far as I'm aware the is no Jiu-Jitsu in Chiang Mai. I coach Judo at Chiang Mai University and there a few Tae-Kwon-Do, karate, Aikido and of course Thai boxing, but that it!

Chiang Mai BJJ and MMA has just opened. The BJJ teacher is Pedro Schmall, A Gracie Humaita black belt from Brazil. He is also a promoter and manager for China's Art of War fight team in Beijing and has taught all over Asia.

You can read more about him here. http://www.bjj-asia.com/2009/10/pedro-bebe...o-thailand.html

Classes meet:

Monday - Friday

6:00-8:00pm (normal class)

8:00-9:00pm (open mat)

Saturday

12:00-2:00pm (normal class)

2:00-3:00pm (open mat)

Sunday

12:00-2:00pm (open mat)

The price of classes is 3000 baht a month, or drop in to roll if you are just visiting Chiang Mai for 400 baht per class. The school is located directly across from the Train station, in the Bossotel parking lot. There is a row of buildings directly opposite the hotel/condo complex entrance and we are in the last unit on the left if you are facing away from the hotel.

Hope to see you all out there!
