Klong Tours - Private Hire

Featured Replies

I have relations visiting Thailand in December and would like to hire a long tail boat to see the Klongs, flower market, grand palace etc.

I would appreciate any advice on the best way to go about arranging the boat hire and also any suggestions for places to visit. My wife is Thai so language will not be a problem

Thanks

You could do worse than actually going to the Amulet market at THA PRA CHAN in Bangplamphoo and arranging it yourself with some of the long tail boat owners who moor there. At least that's what a friend did.

Longtails for the khlongs are fine ... use the tour boats for the river stops like the grand palace (not only because Wat Po and the Grand Palace take a lot of time, but also because the water can be rough)

Think I paid 500 baht per hour last time for a long tail, probably got ripped because I did it through the peninsular!

Take BTS to Saphan Thaskin (last stop on river). There are several tour operators that will arrange long tail boat tours of the klongs with stops on main river at Wat Po, etc. There is one right in the station we used last time. They can then drop you off dock near the Grand Palace. They can also arrange for licensed English speaking guide to go with you.
