we are due to come to pattaya from uk via hong kong on jan 8ish

The best place to change foreign currency (cash) to Thai Baht is Bank Gold.

Soi Rungland, opposite international telephone exchange on South Pattaya Road.

About 50 meters inside the soi, left hand side.

Go for the major banks, like

Thai Farmers,

Bangkok Bank,

Siam Commercial

They will all give you identical rates, pretty much.

Shops etc have their own agendas.

Why bring cash? It can easily be stolen.

Nearly every ATM will accept UK ATM and Credit cards, provided they

have the Maestro or Cirrus logo. Rates will be better than for cash and

defintely safer.

Even the safety deposit boxes in some hotels are not to be trusted, cash is a bad idea

OR.... get yourself a Nationwide Building Society "flexaccount" and use the ATM card they give you. You get a very good exchange rate and NO ATM charges.

Loads - don't worry about it!

When last in LOS i used the atm about 2/3 times and noticed the cash comes out before the card...Is this the case in most atms in LOS??

Imagine if you'd had a few shandies it would be rather easy to forget the card(if your used to the uk protocal of card first cash last)....Also imagine replacing a card would be almost impossible and leave you right in the brown stuff(unless you had more than one card of course)
