i have a very old, very valuable antuque oriental carpet (plus a few other less valuable & less old ones) that is in need of both cleaning and some restoration work, can anyone recommend a reliable place to do it? (Bangkok or surrounding area)

Their used to be an oriental rug dealer behind the Villa Market (Suhkumvit soi 33). I dont think they did any cleaning but if they are still there they might be able to help you find someone that does.

ditto that. There maybe 2 shops within a stones throw of Villa 33. There used to be an ad quite often in the Bangkok Post too.

There's a shop at the top of Sukhumvit 49, opposite the 7/11and down a bit.

There was a shop at the corner of the interssection of Sukhumvit and Asoke, on the even side of Sukhumvit where that Greco-Roman building is. (Nana side)

Sheryl...when you get yr rugs cleaned...let me know the result pls...I've got several oriental rugs (and i'm not talking about Thaksin's toupee) that need a good clean after several years of kids and dogs abuse.
