Just for you this week mate.

St Mirren 0-1 Falkirk: FT Report

PA

Falkirk consolidated their position at the top of the table with an impressive 1-0 win at St Mirren.

Pedro Moutinho eventually broke the deadlock for the Bairns in the 55th minute, leaving two defenders in his wake before sliding the ball under St Mirren keeper Craig Hinchcliffe.

But while Falkirk dominated the game, the battling Saints came close to snatching a point late on.

Stewart Keane waltzed round diving keeper Allan Ferguson but then watched his effort hit the side-netting.

The youngster again came close with an 18-yard volley minutes later.

Falkirk 4-2 Queen of South: FT Report

PA

Falkirk retained their 11-point lead at the top of the First Division as a Daniel McBreen treble helped them to a 4-2 win over a plucky Queen of the South side who were 2-0 up at one point.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Steve Bowey picked the ball up just inside the Falkirk half and raced forward before passing to Derek Lyle on the edge of the box.

The striker's low drive hit goalkeeper Alan Ferguson's legs but still found the back of the net.

The home fans were dumbstruck two minutes later when Queen's doubled their advantage.

Paul Burns delivered a low cross from the right to Brian McLaughlin and the former Celtic player swept home from 12 yards.

The home side pulled one back in the 17th minute when McBreen crossed to the near post from the left and Pedro Moutinho flicked into the net from close range.

The Bairns levelled after 25 minutes when Darryll Duffy's pace down the left flank took him behind the visiting defence and when he centred McBreen volleyed home from the edge of the six-yard box.

John Hughes' men completed their recovery when they took the lead three minutes before the break.

John O'Neil crossed and McBreen rose above everyone before crashing a header in off the underside of the bar.

McBreen completed his hat-trick and killed off a decent Queen's side when he drilled home his side's fourth in the 73rd minute from another Duffy pass.

Another good result for you.

It's just too easy at the moment, but I can see a hiccup coming up. Airdrie on Sunday and they are on form then Partick on Wednesday with that bar steward Lambie back in charge (he is so hated at Falkirk he will have them right up for it.)

PS Do you know anything about a young Rangers player called Charlie Adam ? We are supposedly interested in signing him. If hes anything like Darryl Duffy I'll take him !

Another win for the Bairns.

Falkirk 1-0 Airdrie Utd: FT Report

PA

Falkirk surged 14 points clear at the top of the Bell's Scottish League First Division with a 1-0 home win over an Airdrie side who will feel they deserved something from the game.

The all-important strike arrived in the 34th minute when Pedro Moutinho robbed Alan McManus as the defender slipped near the left touchline. The Portuguese youngster fed the ball to John O'Neil 12 yards out and when he squared it back, Darryl Duffy fired low into the left corner of the net for his 19th goal of the season.

After the break Airdrie went all out for an equaliser and Alan Gow saw home goalkeeper Allan Ferguson superbly tip over his dipping 18-yard drive, and then Martin Hardie pulled a 25-yard shot wide.

As the visitors continued to dominate Ferguson thwarted Willie McLaren and then had to dive at the same player's feet shortly afterwards.

Not a good result for ya mate. Just a slight hiccup!

Partick 2-1 Falkirk: FT Report

PA

Armand One hit a brace as John Lambie celebrated his home return as caretaker manager of Partick Thistle with a 2-1 win over league leaders Falkirk.

However, it was Falkirk who started the brighter and they capitalised on a defensive error after just six minutes when Darryl Duffy opened the scoring with a low shot.

But just three minutes later, Falkirk keeper Allan Ferguson failed to hold onto a corner and the ball broke to former Cambridge striker One who smashed home.

Both sides wasted further chances in the opening period and early in the second half Duffy should have restored Falkirk's lead but Kenny Milne cleared off the line.

And he was made to pay in the 61st minute when One bagged the winner, shooting low into the net from the edge of the box.

Another 3 points mate. We will see ya next season then.

Falkirk 2-0 Raith: FT Report

PA

Falkirk continued their surge towards the First Division title with a 2-0 defeat of basement club Raith Rovers which sent the Fifers closer to the relegation trap door.

The home side started brightly and opened the scoring after six minutes. Raith defender Paul Millar pulled back Darryll Duffy as he charged towards the edge of the box and after Millar was booked for encroaching at Russell Latapy's first attempt, the Trinidadian drilled a second attempt inside the left-hand post.

Visiting keeper Rudy Tounoussamy denied home sub Davie Nicholls with a superb palm-over at full stretch but the Bairns were unstoppable and doubled the advantage after 33 minutes.

After a brilliant series of passes had opened up the Raith defence, Duffy crossed low from the right to the near post and although Tounoussamy bravely got a hand to Andy Thomson's connection, the power took the ball into the net.

The home side took their foot off the gas in the second period but despite monsoon conditions, they coasted to another win.
