Pakeha Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Hi All. I'm getting married on KPG in April next year. We have a party of about 80 - 60 farangs and 20 thais. My Thai partner lived on the island quite a few years ago, and I spent a lot of time there but things sure have changed... prices! We still know a few people and have the accomodation booked and are trying to work out how we could do a dinner function without spending a fortune. We don't have a huge budget. Ideally B25,000 (excluding alcohol) for the dinner / reception would be good. Any ideas on how / where we could do this? I'd like to have lots of sea food. Oh yeah - Everyone's staying at Ban Thai. Any suggestions / advice would be greatly welcomed.
MSingh Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I don't know my Friend but by looking at that Budget & the amount of Guest you want, you'll have more chance catching the Seafood that you want rather than buying it...
PoorSucker Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 You want ballroom style or beach style ? In Samui ballroom style it's Centara (old Central) On KPN for 80 peaole, best to make a arrange on the baech. Hope someone from KPG can recommend/ edit: wrong smiley
Pakeha Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 Cheers. Beach style all the way really. We're just looking at doing something really simple. The wedding is on the beach - very casual, so the after match will be the same. It's all about having everyone together which we've achieved. Now I just have to make sure they don't starve! Catching seafood the morning of the wedding might be a bit of a stretch... What about ideas for a budget of B 50,000? Whilst I want to keep it relatively low cost it's more about having a simple, relaxed do than watching the budget. I just want to avoid a per head situation from a resort. I'm looking for me of a big buffet type thing but not sure where / who does this.
livinthailandos Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Dear Byoung2 Wish you all congrads on a wedding. I understand you are on a budget. I do not know if this will help or not. Contact Peace Resort on Samui if you are interested. Not sure if hotel can help you or not but the hotel can provide this dinner on the beach. Might be able to get you, your wedding dinner at 50000 cannot promise anything. Just Trying to help though. Know the owners and GM at this hotel.
sbk Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Best idea I can think of is to contact the place you'll be staying. Alternatively, you can ask around at some restaurants that might be willing to do some catering. Check the recommendations thread for Koh Phangan pinned at the top of the forum

The wedding is on KPG so we need it to be there. Appreciate the suggestion very much all the same.

The resort we are staying quoted B 100,000. That's food only, no drinks which seems a bit steep for a casual buffet meal. I figure if I can have a meal at a resort for B 500 surely for 80 people economies of scale would kick in... given it's a buffet and not a sit down meal.
hongkong88 Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Sandwiches and a bottle of water might be the go? You could allways just buy some bannanas collect coconuts and buy 5 bottles of 30 degree? just a thought
Pakeha Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 Sandwiches and a bottle of water might be the go? You could allways just buy some bannanas collect coconuts and buy 5 bottles of 30 degree? just a thought Thanks hongkong88 and thanks to all other suggestions. Now that hongkong88 has made such a sensible suggestion I think coconuts and bottled water is a great idea.... I'm sure my wife to be will be thrilled as will all her relatives travelling to KPG for the wedding! Seriously - Thanks to PM's I've had some great suggestions and offers and seem to have found a very good cost effective solution. Thanks to all those who helped me. To the pessimists like hongkong88 it seems good things can be achieved within a budget...
