By ruining the country? The PPP will be dissolved in 2 days anyways. Why stand up a week before and ruin the country if the outcome is the same, on the same day? Explain that?

Did you miss the parts where the government was planning on amending the Constitution in order to make their actions legal (hence the case against them that the court is considering would become moot).

Or the parts where, in desperation, they are trying to have the judges impeached ? Which would likely cause the case to be tossed out, or suspended until they (the government) could ram those constitutional changes through.

Or the part where they, the government, were trying to grant themselves the power to declare amnesties and pardons ? Which would allow them to pardon their true leader, so he could return and take power again.

If PAD had not taken the actions they have, those changes may have already been enacted, and all their crimes erased.

Yeah, that's a democratic government all right. Break the law, then change the law to make it legal and allow them to do it again in the future. Then do more of the same in the future (i.e. electoral fraud, but now legal) to ensure they get elected again.

You were watching the same bulletin. They were taking us through the airport terminal showing us how well setup the PAD protesters are, mentioned that the police failed miserably in an attempt to remove them last night because they were hopelessly outnumbers and then reported that the PM has possibly left the country.

Didn't this smack of an absolute defeat of the government? It did to me. It looked like the PAD mob were on summer camp and having the time of their lives.

It doesn't really address why they needed to take control of both airports though does it? They seemed to be doing just fine in blocking the government without invading the airports. Therefore a pretty unnecessary move that was only intended to provoke confrontation.

No, this is what they reported: "there have been UNCONFIRMED reports that the PM MAY have left the country for personal reasons".... And to be sure we understood that these were as yet uncomfirmed , they repeated it.

We are not there yet ... however , it can very well turn nasty in very short time notice . I've been telling that allready a couple of days . Relax , follow the news and watch your envirement where you are staying . Have a backupplan ready in worst case scenario ( this means , in case of civil war with heavy fighting , how to get out as save and fast as possible without using public transport ) .

Certainly agree that the report gave a sense of hopeless situation for the government. I actually can't see this being resolved on the Govt terms. A police force which seem to be half hearted at best and a military refusing to get involved for obvious reasons.

Thailand is facing a transition, and this will not be without pain. regrettable yes, but all western democracies had facing the same problems in the late 19th and 20th century. just look to Spain, Portugal, Romania and all the former USSR eastern Europe satellite states. and see how they progress since than.

Lets only hope that Thailand become a REAL democracy, and that the military keep out. And frankly I believe that the Financial crises will hurt them more than the current political situation.

IMHO the present government should step down, and an government of national unity should be formed, who organise an new election free from vote buying and corruption.

Hard for that to happen. It's not what any side in this actually wants, especially the PAD.

There we have it, PAD paying parents to send their children to go protest. Disgusting. When I said PAD was at my Soi's market recruiting and offering money to anyone who whould drive with them to Suvarnabhumi, nobody believed me.
