Flight Cancelled. Am I Eligible To Do Any Claim From Aot Due To The Airport Closure?

I had a reservation with Thai Air Asia flight to Hong Kong on 30NOV08. Due to the airport closure the flight was cancelled.

I tried to reach Air Asia for re-scheduling but could not reach them for 5 days. Only minutes ago I was able to contact through their hotline and now rescheduled my flight to 06DEC.

My question is: Am I eligible for any compensation (as I hear from some other places) for my increased expenses here in Bangkok due to this closure?

Please advise. How am I go about in doing this.

Yes -and what about trying to recover some of the expenses incured as an inbound traveler?

Cost us over $1000 in re-routeing and overland travel.
