Hi all

i have an ed visa with a 90 day entry stamp which expires on 13th dec, i have now finished studying but am leaving within the first two weeks of january.. so i'm wondering.. is it possible to get a 30 day extension from the immigration office? as i can't provide them with letter from my school since i've finished studying there, so i'm assuming they won't give me another 90 day stamp..?

or do i have to leave the country and come back?

thanks in advance..

The most you can get is a 7 day extenstion that will cost you 1900 baht.

So it's either to border runs for 15 day stamps or round trip flight (about 4500 baht) to a nearby country to get a 30 day stamp.

Or you could also go to a consulate and get a tourist visa.

Just re-read your post (not enough coffee the first time). Do you have a multiple entry visa and have been making border runs every 90 days. If your visa is still valid you can still do a border run and get another 90 days. Your visa is not dependent on going to school.

If have you been getting 90 day extesnsions at immigration. My earlier post still applies.

ok, thanks for the info. actually i just got the visa in aust 3 months ago, but now have to return aust for personal reasons, so i haven't extended it at all yet. but, it is a multi entry visa, and the impression i got from the consulate in aust was that i had to leave the country every 90 days. so looks like i'll have to do border run.. just thought it might be easier to go to the immigration office.
