I just picked up some leaflets on the Chivawattana Health card and on the surface it seems like a pretty good deal for someone who is living in Thailand and anticipates having an annual medical check-up i.e. if you pay 30,000 baht for a three year term Perfect Diamond card you can have complimentary check-ups of value up to 35,800 baht which will give you 2 comprehensive annual check-ups (each cost 15,400 baht) with some money to spare for other tests (5,000 baht). There are 18 participating hospitals in Thailand.

So even if you do not take advantage of any other discounts (specialised tests, in-patient room rates, dental etc.) and you live for 3 years you should recover the initial outlay and of course have discounted rates in the event of medical problems.

Am I reading this right or is there a catch somewhere (TiT)?

Some personal experiences would be welcome.
