If you are going to Bulgaria for a year, why would you need a new visa? (You don't renew a visa, you can only apply for a new one).

Didn't see any reports on gettin a non-O in Sofia, not sure there is a ambassy or consulate there. But you don't have to go back to your own country to get a new visa. You can apply at any Thai embassy or consulate. That said, some are easier then others.

Renew my expired visa, better?

I realise I don't have to return to my own country which is why I posed the question.

You do not renew an expired visa. You can only apply for a new visa. A visa is a permit that allows you to come to Thailand and ask for permission to enter. This permisison to stay is a separate thing. What people can do when they are in Thailand is to extend their permisison to stay in Thailand. You can only do that while in Thailand and need to meet certain conditions.

Not at all.

Mario is clarifying the situation so there is no confusion in answering your query.

Looking at the Sofia web site there is no mention of O visas. :D

So you will have to enquire from the consulate directly.

Sorry it is in the 3 year section.

Now there is a novelty....

Is there any other consulate who will ostensibly issue a 3 year Non Imm O visa.

If the news gets out there will be a rush. :o

You should be aware that some consulates are reluctant to issue Non Imm visas

to people who are not nationals of the country where they are located, or do not have

a residence permit.
