I live in Thailand with my wife. We would like to visit the UK for a six month break. My sister in the Uk has agreed to sponser her but they haven't met yet, would that make a difference?? She has a good job in the UK and her own place.

My sister has an Irish passport.

Hi mate

On a tourist visa your G/F has to have reason to return to Thailand such as owns land, property or have busienss. Your sponsour does not of have to meet your G/F but she must have enough funds for her stay in the UK and have accomadation for you and her. It is also required for your sponsour to provide a long letter to the embassy, provide 3 months bank statements, 6 months bank statements with as much savings as possible, renters / mortgage details, pictures of all rooms of the house, all pages of your passport and also show the embassy travel plans while in the UK.

Hope this helpfull for you good luck. :o
