A few questions,

Ok, I have, through this forum settled on the correct form for application, now can anyone tell me, is it ok to download the forms and print out/fill in at home or should I go to the visa place and get the printed forms from them ??.

applying for UK visitors visa for my wife and daughter (daughter is from a previous relationship but I have sole custody through thai courts).

I will be working when my wife/daughter travel, do I need to get a letter/sign a letter saying my wife can travel with my daughter??, she is ...i guess stepmother, with my name, and as I say I have sole custody.

I will be sponsoring them, My wife is highly educated but stopped work to care for my daughter.

They are travelling to UK to attend my sisters wedding.

They will be staying with my parents.

we only really want 2 weeks in the Uk but, should I apply for multi entry as I am sure we will go again over the next few years.

Thaivisa travel have quoted me very good prices, can I book with them and pay later, so I have the booking confirmed when we apply for visas

sorry this is a bit of a mish mash

regards

You can print off the forms and complete them or you can complete them online. See How Do I Apply?

Yes, you so need parental consent for your daughter, however as you have sole custody then you can sign that. See VAT3 Special Visitor: Child visitors

However, as she is your daughter then surely she has dual nationality and a British passport? In which case she doesn't need a visa.

The standard visit visa is multi entry and valid for six months; so this is what they will probably get. The ECO does have the power to limit the length of the visa or the number of entries, but has to have a very good reason for doing so.

Longer term visit visas are available, up to 10 years, for frequent and regular visitors, but if this is their first application they wont get longer than 6 months.

Thanks 7, I think we talked before about my daughter. One other thing, I will be in Africa working when My wife and daughter travel, So when I apply online is there any way to link the two applications together??, I dont want to make two seperate appointments when they are both gonna be travelling together to Uk.

Yes, I remember now.

To be honest, I don't know as I've never applied online (I'd rather hand over a piece of paper to a human being so I know that they've got it!) However, I imagine so.

Ah, I was under the impression that you had to apply online now. I read that from Sept 01 all applications must be online, I guess that means 2009, not 2008.

OK that makes it simpler I can just take the two forms in there.

I guess so. My sister-in-law handed in a paper application on 22/12/08 and is now in the UK with us for a visit.

(Complaining about the cold, but wanting to see the snow promised/threatened for next week!)

Edit

Just had a look at the VAC website

From 1st September, Applicants applying as a group of 5 or more, students and student dependants must Schedule an appointment and need to complete a visa application form on line. To fill the application please visit www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk
There will be only two applicants, so you can still hand in a paper application, if you wish. Edited by 7by7

You're welcome.

Enjoy the trip.

I am sure they will, However as I will be stuck in Angola working, my only input to my sisters wedding is my wife and daughter,

Roll on 2014, when I can retire and spend all my time here................Here in Thailand I mean, not here on the Internet reading TV :o

cheers
