Hi Guys,

I've held back from asking this question as I was hoping to find the answer on the boards. Unfortunately not many people seem to talk about this kind of visa so here is my question:

I'm planning on maybe a 6 month say, I'm a UK national and on landing got a single month visa. Now realising the visa rules have changed I would like to get a 3 month tourist visa here (assuming that's the best way to go). Am I right in thinking I can go to almost any neighbouring country (or China in my case as I have a friend there) and legitimately obtain a 3 month tourist visa from the Thai consulate? If this is the case, is there anything from stopping me doing it again once the 3 months expire?

Apologies if I seem dull, it's just that most posts seem to centre around retirement and working visas.

Thanks in advance.

There is not a 3 month Tourist Visa.

Tourist Visas are for 2 months but can be extended at an Immigration Office in Thailand for a fee of 1,900 Baht. Most Thai Consulates will isuue these.

Vientienne Laos will issue a double entry, giving you almost 6 months stay with extensions and a border run in the middle.

BTW When you arrived you got a Visa Exempt Entry. Not a Visa.

No problem getting a tourist visa almost anywhere (Manila no). You can get them one after the other.

You will get 60 days on entry and then extend for aniother 30 days at immigration.

Deoendent on where you go you can also get a 2 entry visa (Vientiane for sure) that would give you almost 6 months without getting a new visa,
