fisherd3
It is obviously possible to travel to Samui by bus via Bangkok very cheaply, however I am advised that the journey is a nightmare 12hrs + with a then 2 hour ferry crossing, for true back packers only. My GF says train takes much longer than bus ( unbelievably I must admit). Edited January 10, 2005 by fisherd3

Yes the trains do take longer, however it is still noticable on trains that Thai's make up at least 95%+ of the passengers. Darknight
What are the other travel option from Don Muang to Pattaya? Cheers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Taxi straight from the touts +/- 1800 bath maybe 1500 if you really want to haggle. City taxi striaght to pattaya (haggle a lot +/- 1200 bath) City taxi to ekamai busstation (+/-150B) then bus pattaya 90B Bus from Donmuang to ekamai then other to pattaya (cheapest but a pain in my opinion) be prepared no signs in english , difficult if it's your first time. Walking cheapest it's only 180 km's
shandiman
On holiday why waste time, get a Taxi from the Airport its the price of a round in you local. Dont get pulled in by the cheap charlies, enjoy it as much as possible. If you are a back packer then its upto you.
