A few weeks agoe I got my second extension of my one year retirement multipul reentry visa at thai Immigration office in Nathon/Koh Samui.

For some reason I just got a text stamp (at 5000 bath) and was told that if I intended to leave the country I had to come back for a new stamp (reentry stamp).

Today I did so and had to pay another 1000 bath.

In the stamp the immigration officer whrote "singel entry". I asked him WAY?? since my last reentry stamp sayed multipal entry aswell as my original visa.

He told me that he done nothing wrong but next time I want to leave the country I hade to come back again and he would give me "more"?.

This seams to be another scam to rob farangs for extra fees. Obviusly they dont want us here so mybe we should obey find an other country to spend our money in.

An extencion of a One Year Retirement Multy Reentry Visa should end up in a new Visa of the same kind.

An extension of stay costs 1,900 baht - it is printed on the form.

A multi re-entry permit costs 3,800 baht.

A single re-entry permit costs 1,000 baht.

It sounds like you paid 5,000 baht for the TM.7 instead of 1,900 baht. Did you get a receipt? They are required to issue.

You are wrong - an extension of stay is not a visa - it is just an extension of your current stay. It does not allow you to leave and return. You must buy a re-entry permit for that.

The fee for the extension is 1,900 Baht . Not 5,000 Baht. They have been getting away with this for years. Did they give you a receipt? I bet not.

The fee for a Re Entry Permit is 3,800 Baht for a Multi and 1,000 Baht for a single which is what they gave you.

So the scam is 5,000 Baht for a 1,900 Baht fee.

Did you wonder why they are always smiling?

Unless you have have been fined for something, perhaps for not making 90 day address reports, you have been overcharged. A 1 year extension of stay based on retirement is 1,900 Baht, not 5,000 Baht. Since you have lived in Thailand a couple of years, you should be more familiar with the immigration process. Also a visa and an extension of stay are not the same thing, a visa is for entry into Thailand and an extension of stay extends the time you are allowed to remain in Thailand.
