RoadRash Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Just a quickie, I'm going back to the UK soon and the wife will be following hopefully not long after. She has a Masters in Education and would like to get a job in that field in the UK. I understand that she will need a criminal record check here and all other documents translated into English. Will these need to be verified by the embassy (especially thr CRB and degree) or will they be acceptable as they are? Cheers in advance.

mariner29 Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Criminal record check for what exactly ?? UK visa applications do not require a criminal record check to enter the country perhaps you should read the guidance. As for a criminal record check some jobs in the UK do a full background check should you be successful at the interview. Good luck

I know visa applications do not require a CRB, BUT, any job in the education sector in the UK does require a full disclosure incliding a CRB check. The CRB check is done after the interview using UK agancies only, being a Thai citizen, who has never left Thailand it is up to my misses to provide her own CRB from her country of origin. RE question. Does this need to be verified by the British Emabassy?
mariner29 Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I would have thought the employer in the UK would do the check on her behalf, it would not hurt to get her own CRB check done whilst in her host country. And i did read the question you asked. Good luck.

Good luck. As stated earlier, the education system and employers in the UK will only check the UK data base, if you come from abroad you need to supply one from your country of origin,(checked this already with various teaching agencies) which is why I'm asking if this needs to be verified by the Embassy? We are on a tight budget so I don't want to waste resources on taxis, time and extortionate embassy prices. Sorry never stated the fact that she has never been to the UK so a CRB check from her host country will be as useful as a fart in a space suit. Come on, your the specialist, you should know if anyone does.
