I'm coming up to BKK from Phuket to apply for a police clearance document from the police office just near Paragon, (as detailed in another thread).

However, it's not clear to me what documents are required for a 'farang' who is applying for this clearance document.

Has anyone been through this process already? What documents do I need to bring?

Thanks

Ubonjoe, thanks for that link.

One item that I have to bring is 'a document certifying that I am residing in Thailand'.

Since i'm not on my tabian baan, what document do I need to provide? (I think that my local immigration office issue this??)

Cheers

Here's my issue that I would like clarified:

I moved to Thailand on February 25th, 2009. I've been living in the Ratchaburi province since that time. I recently inquired about attending a medical school in the Philippines, but they are requesting that I have "Police Clearance" from my country of origin before entering their country. I am under the impression that I can get a certificate of residence from immigration and then proceed to the Police Clearance Center to get the document that I need. Is this information correct?

Is there a period of time that the Police Clearance is only valid? I know some countries only offer a 30-day validity before it expires.

Also, I read something about getting fingerprinted? I have not been fingerprinted since I moved here. I just want to make sure that immigration will be able to supply me with the proof I need to gain the clearance, even if I haven't been fingerprinted.

Thank you in advance for any replies!

To apply for the police clearence certificate you have to provide finger prints when you apply. Immigration has nothing to do with getting the police clearence or it being issued.

I don't think the police clearence from Thailand is what you need. You need one from your home country.

You are a US citizen here on a tourist visa. You are not a resident of Thailand. From what you have posted the police check has to be from your home country. That would be the US. I believe there is a procedure in place to obtain finger printing here in Thailand for FBI check in US but expect that will require paperwork from the ACSU unit at the US Embassy to obtain.

You might find it easier to enter the Philippines as a tourist and then make application for school. Expect the police check then would be more straight forward and everyone would know the requirements. They are asking you to have the police check first assuming you are in your home country and can easily obtain it and proper visa.
