Media Matters is attempting to shut down Missouri courts by filing a motion in a D.C. court
From your quoted source above: "Media Matters CEO Angelo Carusone called the ruling "a victory for free speech and a warning to other AGs and like-minded bad actors that the constitution does not allow for this type of meritless, retaliatory, harassing effort to suppress free speech." "A federal judge has clearly seen this coordinated effort by state attorneys general for what it is—sucking up to Elon Musk and abusing the power of their offices to intimidate researchers and stifle accurate reporting by Musk's critics. Andrew Bailey was one of those AGs that took up the call and he was defeated," Carusone said." -

Interesting read from a well informed professor of US history.
LOL. Just read the OP. Not interested in someone just a rah rah Harris supporter. If Heather Cox Richardson wants to be taken seriously she needs to learn the meaning of impartial. -

Kamala Harris Shifts Position on Border Wall, Signaling Tougher Stance on Immigration
You’re mentioning some of the reasons one of the Gop authors of the bill rejected his own bill. It couldn’t even get out of the Senate, even some senate dems wouldn’t support it. https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/4682181-senate-downs-border-bill/ https://oklahomavoice.com/2024/05/24/bipartisan-border-bill-loses-support-fails-procedural-vote-in-u-s-senate/ https://www.newsweek.com/republican-will-vote-against-his-own-border-bill-1903337 -

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
I have an email confirming that - previously supplied on this thread (with person's personal name and my banks details removed). Obviously no one is going to read hundreds of pages. I dont have the file - and no time to edit it all again - but here are the words I got from a Thai based tax company. After consulting with our Thai tax division and analyzing your personal details, we have determined that you are not required to file a Thai tax return as no Thai taxes are owed. This is based on the filing rules as of today's date. The point being stressed is 'as of today's filing rules' (as told to them by TRD). It will not be until the end of this year that TRD advises all the Thai accredited tax professionals/organisations, how they want them to manage things with regards to tax returns, under the new rule. Until then no one knows whether the status quo will remain (they dont want 10s of millions of tax returns from people with no tax to pay). Only about 10 million Thais lodge a PIT - but we and TRD know there are upwards of 30-40 million Thais making money. However, the vast majority of them do not have to pay income taxes because their income is below combined Allowances and Exemptions. -

7-Eleven Introduces Convenient PromptPay QR Code Payments Nationwide
The biggest security flaw I discovered in banking didn't involve a Thai bank. Actually, not with a bank at all. Long story short, I discovered an overseas bank (US) was able to set up a transaction on my Wise $ account via a Direct Debit using just the account details as provided by Wise. Seems the default is to allow this to happen, without any notification, permission or advice. I was told I could stop all DDs on a certain account, or across all my Wise accounts, and allow them only with my specific permission. So that's what I did. Locked the intruders out. It turned out it wasn't a malign intrusion, just a test run. But I was really surprised that the bank was able to do that. -

Homeless Group Celebrates with 10,000 Baht Wallet Aid, Buys Alcohol
Some are Truly Hopeless. Unlike this old woman seen in yesterday's news. She was supporting several family members alone with very little income and welfare. She said she can resume her trade(food vending) with this money. This topic was also covered with yesterday's ASEAN Now.
