Hi,

I don't think anybody can be more confused about Thai visas :)

I have property in Thailand and would like to visit Thailand as much as possible and longer periods as well. It would be convenient to have 1 year visa. I am not American but is procedure different to different nationalities? I am not 50...yet.

Wonder if someone would advice me or maybe send web-page address where would be instructions for dummies... :D

Thanks!

You could get a one year multiple entry non immigrant O visa visa to visit freinds. This would alow you to leave and enter as many times you want for a a year getting 90 days each entry. If you leave and re-enter just before the visa expires you can get another 90 days which gives you a total of amost 15 months without needing a new visa.

It has been reported that the consulate in Stuttgart will issue these visas. Suggest you contact them.

There is only one visa that is for a year and it is for retirement. Other visas are only good for 90 and 60 day entries

There are one year extensions of stay for Employment, Marriage to a Thai, To study at a school or university and volunteer work..

Thank you all sooooooooooooo much for advice. I really appreciate!

And it would be great if I don't have to be present when applying cause Stuttgart nor Hull are not so nearby.

But what about if you are 50, Finnish and living in Germany?

You are not. But if you were you could get 12 monthly extensions in Thailand if you meet the financial requirements.

When over 50 you can get a non-O visa for 3 months and then extend your stay in Thailand itself by 1 year and every year after wards if you can show:

800,000 in a Thai bank account

or

an income of 65,000 baht a month

or

a combination of income and money in the bank totaling 800,000 baht

Ok. I'll do The-Non-Imm-O-Multi-Entry-Hull-thing :)

But my spouse is already 50 and will do the other....So after 3 months do you need to leave and re-enter or just apply extension?

If your wife is 50, she can get a non-O and extension as described above. You can then go with her as her dependend and get your own non-O and extensions based on your wife's retirement.

Anyone know how strict they are in Hull? Just read through visa application and...

-APPLICATIONS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED FROM A UK ADDRESS: Well we are in Germany

-Date of departure from UK : Will depart from Germany

-Travel details after Thailand: Will come back to Germany

Just try it from Germany, based on your wife being over 50 and you joining her. You won't have any problem.

In Thailand open a bankacccount in your wife's name and have her put 800,000 in it. After 2 months you can then both get an extension of stay from immigraiton in Thailand for 1year.

That would be easiest if we had the money..So at first I apply non-O visa for me.

I have actually tried to contact (email) Thai Embassies here in Germany and none of them responded... So I it would be great if Hull worked out.

Stuttgart will do mail in applications.

Don't waste your time contacting Franfurt or Berlin they are official consulates and will not be helpfull.

I understand there is one in Hamburg that is an honorary consulate also.

You could contact Munich and ask about it.

If you don't get a good answer mail in your application to Stuttgart.
