Chalong/rawai Resident "experts" : Fruit Markets?

Featured Replies

Having recently returned to Phuket after a 2 year absence, I see a LOT of changes (obviously) and I am a bit "in the dark" on local markets and their specific days of business/operation.

From Chalong circle, the road to Wat Chalong USED to have a "local" fresh fruit/veggies market 2-3 days per week, but I see the new Home Pro / Villa Market is now in that vicinity....

So, is there such a place now (in Chalong) and where is it and what days is it active? (I heard there was a Sunday market--ONLY Sunday, but no idea as to location?)

I do recall seeing markets on the road to Rawai on different sides of the road on different days of the week, but again, being away so long I have NO clue...

ANY info would be appreciated, as durian season is coming-- as is mangosteen, rambutan etc....

Appreciate any SPECIFIC detailed directions for a "newbie" (i.e. Take road from Chalong circle towards Phuket Town, how far down, which side of road if coming from Chalong etc.......)

THANKS!

HB

OK, from Chalong circle, pass Wat Chalong, then about 1 km on the right hand side there is a reasonable size market that operates from around 4 pm every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday (about 100 metres before the TOT offices). Easy to spot as on market days there is traffic control by the police. Seems to have gotten much busier since the demise of the market at the Home Pro village site. Another alternative is the market at Kata, which I know has good fruit, and seems to operate every day from early morning.

There are markets everyday on the way to Rawai from the circle. The all open on different days but are only about 1 km apart so if the one is closed just drive to the next one.

The one opp the turning to Friendship beach Mon-Fri.The one by turning to Rawai Muay Thai Tues-Thurs.The one opp Rawai hardware Weds
