pnustedt Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I cannot get on to The Economist's website anymore, I am getting the message "The SGOS license has expired". I was aware of problems with distribution of the printed edition but is the web-site also banned?
Thanyaburi Mac Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I cannot get on to The Economist's website anymore, I am getting the message "The SGOS license has expired". I was aware of problems with distribution of the printed edition but is the web-site also banned? The web site comes up fine and quickly out here at Klong 10: http://www.economist.com/ "The SGOS license has expired" Never heard of this one so did a google for it, lots of hits, and I still don't understand what it means. Take a look yourself. Mac
melonf Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I guess you are using Maxnet The Economist Any Word Press sites Wikipedia Are all blocked with the SGOS message I think what is happening is that when Thailand blocks websites, a first pass filter identifies sites as, ok, banned or iffy. The second pass filter examines iffy sites where some pages are blocked and others are ok. It seems that the Maxnet proxy used for this second pass filter is not working and the sites are totally blocked with the SGOS error message
ubonjoe Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 SGOS = security gateway operating system usally refering to a server or router or proxy server utilizing the SGOS 3.0.. It can also be used in pop up blockers and instant messaging blockers useing a vpn tunnels between diferent IP adresses. Look for any of the software blockers and either update them to get new permissions or remove them More info here: http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-x...red/114549.html
lazygourmet Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I am using MaxNet, and I am getting the same message while trying to open it from my bookmarks. Otherwise, I am still receiving some rss feeds from "The Economist" through Google-reader.
pnustedt Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 I've now managed to get it. I normally use Google as my browser but changed to Yahoo! Tks for advice.
