Hi, I currently have a type o i year multi entry visa obtained for the thai consulate in hull UK. I still have 3 months left on it, and really do not want to have to go back to the uk to renew it - i cannot do it while i am in thailand, can i reliably get this visa anywhere else in the region?

last year i got a 2 month single entry from KL - and was not offered the option of anything else, simply handed over my passport and came back to collect it - no questions allowed...

.....do you know if it can legally be done by post from outside of thailand - ie i send my passport from malaysia to the UK?

There are mixed opinions on this. Some members do report doing this. Hull will not send your passport back to Asia.

You would also be in a Country without your passport for a while.

umm, i have emailed hull to ask if it is possible - as long as I fedex it to and from a uk address then being without a passport for 7-10 days should be ok, i have places to stay etc..

will see what they say

thanks

Eyes out of focus I guess missed the 2 months.

But I do have soemthing more to say to the OP.

You might want to check airfare to Perth and compare that with what your cost will be to stay in Malaysia for two weeks plus the cost of sending your passport back and forth plus all the worry about the what if's.

I have business in Malaysia anyway, so that one's not too big an issue. Perth, cheaper than flying to the UK I guess. A trip to the Uk with car hire, and all the rest thrown in costs a lot - 2.5-3000GBP, plus i really don't like the sound of all this airport monitoring stuff, nothing really to hide, but it sounds a bit too big brother - and i really want to avoid it.

i was thinking of going to melbourne in october anyway, my visa is up september - but as a british citizen is it likely i'll get a 1 year o in australia?

kl visa - i was simply given a form and lined up to submit it, there was no question or option as to which visa i wanted, at the counter i asked the girl for a 3 month multi entry, she did not even look at me or answer, just snatched the form - malay staff
