How to make photos for online shop, what equipment to buy ? Any experience about buying photo lab equipment in Bangkok ?

Hi,

I want to buy equipment (camera, light, tripod, background) to make my own photos for an online shop, do you have any experience to share about what to buy or about building your own equipment?

What kind of camera do you thing I need ?

Thank you.

I slightly confused. You want to sell photographs online but have no experience of taking photos or making photographs, or do you just want some nice pictures to put on a website?

Firstly forget about a darkroom and processing your own photos, it's a skill that takes years to develop. If I was you I would buy a cheap decent digital camera and develop your eye. I would also buy a domestic photo editing software like photoshop elements to learn the basics of production. And take any pictures you are happy with to a good repro shop to print.

You don't need to waste a lot of money on professional equipment to take a good photo. Professional equipment does not make a professional photographer.

Sorry, bad explanation, actually i will need to take hundreds of photos for some online shops, mostly clothes and small items, and as I don't want to pay 50 thb / photo to the photograph I think the best choice is to buy some equipment that I will keep for ever.

This is why I am trying to find the cheapest good quality equipment to take photos of items sold on my online shop.

Thanks.

I've got some prosumer lights no longer being used. They were from a personal studio that we had before we moved. I can ask the wife if she wants to sell them and for how much if you like..

If you want to take pictures of items and post those pictures on line these would do

I understand now, thanks for the reply. For a camera I would recommend the Fujifilm FinePix S9600 a good cheap all rounder.

or the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28

For photographing clothes I would use a white sheet for the background. A good solid tripod should cost around 2000bht. As for lighting it's not an area I'm very familiar with but a prosummer set of 2 keys and a backlight should suffice.

For the small items here is a few good articles I think you'll find useful.

And for adjustments to colour and exposure I would use photoshop elements. I hope this is so some use to you.

Don't forget the colour temperature setting on the camera, with all those artificial lights.

One less job to do with Photoshop later. :)
