May 11, 200916 yr Hi Thinking about a career change! Already have BSC with the Open University TEFL or Celta to follow. Whats the difference? TEFL for infants and Celta for older students and more comprehensive??? Is it better to do one of these courses in BKK with a agency that guarantees work placement at the end of the course? Recommendations please?? Is BKK best option for work?? 30K pcm would suffice! Cheers
May 12, 200916 yr Tefal is good for non-stick frying There are loads of threads here on the merits or otherwise of the different TEFL courses, CELTA included. Also www.ajarn.com provides excellent background information on TEFL in Thailand.
May 16, 200916 yr TEFL courses spend four weeks teaching you to instruct all ages. The 4-week CELTA teaches how to teach adults; they sometimes offer a young learner's course, also.

Ok Thanks for that! Looks like TEFL will suffice. Seen the previous Link about ECC in BKK looks OK? I take it BKK is where the jobs are? Currently spend my time in Hua Hin but obviously willing to relocate. There are some colleges there but I thought it may be good to get some experience in BKK and then look for work there!
May 17, 200916 yr I spent a recovery year in Hua Hin. Allmost no teaching jobs there. The colleges are way too small. Other major urban areas have teaching vacancies, but BKK has the most.
