Any swiming pool with good facility and english speaking swiming instructors ?

I found from internet that both Kasetsart University/phahyothin (50 bhat) and sport athourity of thailand/ramkamheng (30bhat) each has several pools with 50 meters lenght open to public, anyone have any experiance at those places?

Kasetsaht university has a nice pool; family friends live near there and I used to swim quite often when i still was reliving my triathalon glory days....

In the weekends they often have racing, so you cannot use it.

In the weekdays, don't go after about 4pm as there are sometimes little kids swimming side to side, and that can make for fun collisions.

THe water is clean; take no valuables or leave in the car, as I don't think there is any lockable lockers. It is not too chlorinated and nicely warm; fun to swim during the day then go to the food court which is well cheap. It is quite far inside the uni.

There is a swimming pool right next to ABAC Hua Mak, but maybe you are better off to go check out Anna in her bikini at Bang Na, because that pool seems to always be full of little kids peeing in the pool probably. And you would not get to see that gold bikini :-)

There is also a pool at the gym 25m in the Yontrakit building in Lard prao on Wipawadee, but not sure the cost per visit.

Why do you need instruction? Are you a serious swimmer wanting to race, or do you just not know how to swim well? I was forced to learn to swim when my then boss entered me into a triathalon a month before it, and I could not swim at all.

You can learn with a few pionters, and later on I was getting some good pointers which I am happy to pass onto you. I got to the point of winning a sprint triathalon once 3 years later, so I must be sort of ok.

And no, I am not gay either (not that there is anything wrong with that!). To prove it, maybe Jockstar you and me can go on a spy session to Bang Na :o:D

Around Sukhumvit area i.e Thonglor.......... anything there ? Kasetsart is to much of a haul in evening traffic to get there.

Pratunam princess is a nice hotel with a nice pool; can go there and pay to use or pretend to be a guest and enjoy a swim ;-)

Most hotels have pools, only some have lap pools though.

I think the charn issara 2 building might havea sports club with a pool; worth a look.

Thanks steve for all details, you seems to know north eastern part of bangkok better than me

I like to learn swiming for both health (mild diabetes) and padi scuba diving course 400 meters

swim test.

I like that part of bangkok bangkapi, ladprao, ramkamheng...Do you know any furnished apartment

for less than 10,000 , with good swiming pool ( some days might not go outside) for at least 2 month stay. I know greenery house (free DSL internet), PKmansion both with swiming pool, but never stayed there before (search em on internet only)

I started swiming last 30 days, my coach in Dubai, is 28 yo former Iranian national team champion

1500 meter race, but i feel though he is a very good swimer, he doesn't have what it takes to teach an avarge person like me. Best swimmer aren't best teachers always :-)

May i know how old are you, I am just seeing if we actually have something to chat about..Im only 33 so the age gap affects conversations greatly, however it will be great to meet you and i'm sure those pointers will be very inspiring too

Racket club in soi 49 has 2 X 25m pool, lockers and the whole works. Only down side, it's a 25 m pool. I think their is open to 10 or 11, not sure, but prob worth checking it out.

I live in Ekamai, and my building has a 25m pool too. I use to swim daily, 1km a day, but I haven't been swimming since october. Need to get back into it. Down side to mine is it closes at 9pm which doesn't work for me anymore coz I usually don't get home till 7 or 8, and I want to chill a lil bit first before I take a swim. If they opened till 10 I'd still swim everyday... :o

There used to be a reasonable pool at the YMCA on Sathorn.

Don't know if it is still there.

I was observing bkk from google earth and i can say there are more than nearly

1000 sized swiming pool in bkk, amazing

I know there should be less than ten 50meters pool in bangkok

http://www.swimmersguide.com/

search database for bangkok and worldwide pools, however their

data submission is by indivituals who swim there, example Tehran

has one swiming pool listed only, infact i know it has more than twenty

50meters pools alone

There is an 8 lane 50 meter pool very near the Ekamai bus station. It is behind the science center. There is a cement soccer court then behind that is the pool. It is like 300 baht for the year and 30 baht each time. I know it is closed on Mondays. Get off at Ekamai Station. Walk past the station towards Thonglor. It is almost across from Major Ekamai. I swam competitively but now into fin swimming. Nothing like putting one of those on and getting up to 5 or 6 mph in the water and it is great for the legs and core. Hope this helps.

I think you mean the Pathumwan Princess Hotel. Their pool is very nice, and its one of the few salt water pools in the city. The hotel runs a very nice fitness club- The Olympic Club- with extensive facilities for racquet sports, too. The hotel itself is anchored to MBK Center, on the side furthest from the skytrain.

Hi all.

There is a fairly new facility in Ladprao. They have a nice swimming pool. They also just finished their Fitness facility. They are located at Chokchai 4 Soi 23, Ladprao. Getfit centre is the name. They have also a website at http://www.getfitcentre.com.

I went for a swim today. The water isn't chlorine, but tastes salty. I asked the swim instructor, but she wasn't quite sure. Did anyone else mange to go there? I am not a big fan of chlorine, so I would like to know what it could be.

Cheers.

I have swam in pools that use bromine instead of chlorine, they can get a bit salty, apparently it gets more concentrated as the water evaporates.

Overall the bromine is not as harsh on the skin, etc., as chlorine, I would say. Also doesn't smell so much.
