I am after some advice regarding my tourist visa which was issued 2nd Feb in Brisbane, Australia. It is a multiple entry visa, "Good for Three journeys". The stamp states it "must be utilised before 30 July" and that on each entry my stay is 60 days. I first entered via airport on 5 February and travelled via land to Laos on 2nd April, re-entering (second entry) via Friendship Bridge same day whereby it was stamped admitted until 31 May. I left via BKK airport 31 May and am visiting Singapore for 6 days and will re-enter via BKK airport on 6 June for my third entry. This will allow me entry until 5 August (exactly 60 days).

Wanting to stay further, I would need to obtain a new Tourist Visa so I intend travelling to Vientiane, Laos on or before 5 August and obtain a new multiple entry Tourist Visa.

From reading multiple topics am I correct in assuming that the Thai Embassy there will issue me with a new Tourist Visa valid for two entries of 60 days each?

Depending on the answer to the above the queries I have in addition to this are these:

Does the Thai Embassy in Laos issue multiple entry Tourist Visas for 60 days each, ie two journeys or entries only? Or are they limiting entries or can they be for 90 days?

Having had a three trip multiple entry tourist visa will they deny issuing a new tourist visa and prohibit me from re-entering for 90 days as one wag told me? (Another Beer Chang charged wag also told me I would have to return to Oz to get a new tourist visa).

If no new tourist visa is issued at all, can I re-enter immediately via airport and be granted 30 days?

I then researched obtaining a Business Travel Card (BTC) which are issued by the Australian government (subject to qualification by the applicant) and other members of APEC for business people who travel regularly to APEC member countries such as Thailand where entry at the airport is done through where diplomatic personnel enter and a stay is granted for 90 days each time, and the BTC and such multiple entries into Thailand are valid for up to 3 years.

I am under 50 (47) and am not eligible for a Non Immigration visa. Please note that in reading through the forum topics in trying to clarify the tourist visa matter there is definately different criterias depending on whether you are a UK or Australian citizen.

It really makes no difference if Uk, Oz, US or about 40 others - a tourist visa is the same for all. Yes, currently Vientiane will issue a 2 entry for those that ask. Most others will only issue a single entry. But there is no need to return to Oz unless you wish to obtain a non immigrant O visa valid for one year of 90 day stays - for that you might try Perth.

1. There is no limit on number of days/entries/visas.

2. The tourist visa allows 60 day entry for you passport and can be extended 30 days.

3. All entries must be used before expiration date or they are lost.

4. You can enter for last entry the day before it expires and still stay for 60 days and extend for another 30 days.

You can apply for a 30 day extension before the third entry "permitted to stay" period expires. You can get a double entry tourist visa from Laos if you want. Each stay is 60 days, but those could also be extended, I think each extension is 1900 baht if I remember correctly.

Many thanks. For the 30 day extension, can you please confirm if this is done at a local immigration office (I reside in Bangkok) and if so what requirements/documents are needed for example do I need to front up with evidence of a departing flight or vessel in 30 days? I probably already know that the answer would be a No, otherwise we'd all be booking bus tickets for 30 days time.

Your passport and a copy of photo page, visa, entry/permit to stay stamps and TM departure card. 1 photo and TM7 form filled out.

That is all that is needed plus the 1900 baht fee. No tickets needed.

You can get it done at any immigration office. Bangkok for you.

If she has no other photo ID It could entail some risk. Air travel will require ID and even bus travel might be subject to check. If she has Thai ID such as teaching/driving or such she should be OK. Also be sure to have copy of police report for lost passport available. Also receipt from her Embassy for payment for new passport if they issue such.

Probably be OK as long as you do not try to fly - although hotel could also request passport if they know she is not Thai.

Does she have some kind of ID with a photo on it? With that and the letter she should be okay.

Even a copy of her lost passport would help.

She should be okay with all that. The photo ID matches a face to the name on the other paperwork. And the passport copy also.

Hello,I've heard that their is a new rule again, the 15 day border runs are limited to a maximum of 4 consecutive times after that entrance will be allowed by flying in to the country...how about if i go by land transportation it is not allowed also..

You were talking about an internal flight to Phukett? So have you changed the subject now? You reference the no ID for flight to Phukett in your post.

You are getting us a little confused because you have switched questions.

I have a question though. Did your friend sort out her overstay by going to immigration?

The new rule is a max of 4 land border crossing. If you left by a border crossing and then returned by air that should also reset the count.

It does not appear to be retroactive because they are now starting to number the entries, There have been reports of them putting number 1 on the entry stamps.
