I was just at CM immigration. The notice board states that for a retirement visa you need 65k per month (780,000) or 800,000 in the bank or a combination of the two. Is this correct? As I've heard some friends saying that they need proof of pension, confirmation from thier embassy and 800k in the bank too. I'm over 50 and too young (ha ha) to get a pension but I could muster up 8 big ones. What other docs. would I need. I'm married, got a kid in school etc. etc. Here on an O visa. Any advice/hints greatly appreciated.

800k in the bank with a bank letter to prove it/plus passbook that agrees. Needs to have been in the account at that level or higher for 2 months prior to first extension of stay application.

Requirements are 800,000 in the bank for 3 months, or an income of 65,000 or a combination of both totaling 800,000. This is the easistes way of getting an extension. Incoem from within Thailand is shown by tax documents, income from abroad by letter from your embassy.

If you have a Thai wife you can also choose to show 400,000 in the bank for the last 2 months or an income of 40,000 a month. But this would require a lot more paperwork and you need to come back after 30 days for final apporoval of your extension.

If you have a kid going to school you can also et an extension based on that if you can how 500,000 in a bankaccount in Thailand.

Are you married to a Thai? The requirements are less if you are. 40K and 400K.

It's 65,000 baht per month income or 800,000 baht in the bank for 60 days or a combination of the 2 totoaling 800,000 baht.

Income is proven by a letter from your embassy.

The money in the bank requires a letter from your bank confirming the deposit and a copy of your bank book.

Chiangmai is pretty good for retirement visas. You need either 65k pension or 800k in the bank. Since you have the latter go for that. But it must be confirmed by your bank. If you are married to a Thai only 400k is required.

The same 65k/800k is required for retirement - there is no discount for marriage. If you use the lower 40k/400k it is for support Thai wife and will require different paperwork plus the wife.

You've all been a great help, I'm trying to avoid taking the wife (always muddies the water) so I'll do the 800k route. Cheers.
