Where Can I Buy A Netbook?

Featured Replies

Is there anywhere on the island that sell netbooks, I'd like to get my hands of Samsung NC-10, I want something little for reading PDFs and can run firefox etc.. and this seems to fit the spec and budget well and good for just throwing in the motorbike. I dont mind paying a small premium if someone imports it.

Quote 19.5k, I believe AdamSkiSamui paid 19.7k. I was about to pay but ATM refused for that amount, on reflection when I worked it out it was a little expensive, I don't mind a small premium (given postage/risk/requirement for profit) but I imagine they're buying wholesale for around 15k-16k (seeing retail Payatta is 16.5k).

Someone told me think of everything in terms of Thail costs. A premium of nearly 3.5-4.5k is a 2-3 weeks wages for most thais.

Unless you are going to get someone to get one for you, how much will it cost you in travel & your time?

True, it's free market, sellers can price as they please, buyers exercise their prerogative in purchasing or not, so in terms of time of flight costs to BKK its probably still a financially better choice to pay 19.5k inclusive. But for me it's at price point where I may consider subsituting with one of the other brands that I can get delivered to samui or pick up locally, tohome.com has Lenovo at 15k, and Tesco/Lotus samui has an Acer one coming in next week at a special offer price of 10k with a Linux distro on. I'll see what NHJ can offer. :)

Order directly from Panthip Supplier or have friend, relative take care of it,

send by ems or even dhl - will still be a fraction of the "tiny markup"...it's simply

open street robbery - that's it!

1. 19,000 baht for a netbook, I paid 15,000 for a acer aspire one d150 with 10inch screen and 2 GB ram. Mind you i got this in bangkok at powerbuy

2. Unless you are going to get someone to get one for you, how much will it cost you in travel & your time? you could easily fly cheap and go to bangkok and make a day out of it and avoid the hassle you could even go to suratthani and fly air asia

3. A netbook and chooses this is why you should go to bangkok you have more available options from

Hard drive Size

Ram

3 cell or 6 cell battery

8 inch screen or bigger

Acer, MSI, etc and you can look in person

powerbuy and IT city are having good specials on netbooks.

but if you like paying that extra premium go for it. I'd rather see for myself in person
