jpolten Posted July 1, 2009 Share Posted July 1, 2009 Hello everyone! Just returned from holiday in thailand,had a great time except for one upset in bangkok! I was in a bar on nana drinking,playing pool and having some fun with the girls when a guy with a southern irish accent approached me and started talking to me,I was polite talked to him and played pool with him,he said he was living there down from the north(chang mai or chang rai) and only in bkk for a few days and some time later i said goodbye and left with one of the girls i was seeing. The next night i went back to the same bar to meet the girl i was seeing and he was there again,we talked played some pool and he asked me to go somewhere else for a drink,i said no i was waiting for the girl i was seeing to come to work. He said "come on,dont mind her",after he said that the penny dropped,i looked at him with eyebrows raised and could only laugh at him and told him to <deleted> off,he tried to smile but it was one of those ugly smiles and left the bar! I asked one of the girls what was his story and she just smiled and shrugged her shoulders! Not long after that the girl i was seeing came to work,we were having a good time chatting joking when her face dropped and she went quiet. I turned around to see two cops standing there,they said "you sell drugs,you sell drugs", i said "no" and one of the cops started to talk to the girl i was with and the other one started to talk to the other people in the bar! I was starting to get very worried because i know what happens to drug dealers in thailand,but knew i did nothing wrong! After a few moments the girls start laughing and shaking their heads. The police said someone came to the police box and reported that i was selling drugs in the bar. The police asked to search me and i said ok,they brought me to the toilets and i asked for some of the girls to be there! The girls seem to enjoy me standing there in my boxers,and after they found nothing the police said sorry but we had to do this,enjoy your holiday sir! I said thank you its ok i understand! After the police left i was talking to the girls about it and they asked me who do you think was saying this? I said i dont know! (The police told the girls what the person looked like) and guess what.....they described that irish guy!! I asked the girls why did he do that and they said "because you know" I asked the girls why dont he just go to a gay bar or something,they said he was married to a thai girl and he doesn't want anyone to know, we see him watching the men. I dont know this man and will probably never see him again and i really cant understand why he would do this! Said his name was bob or maybe rob,about 5'10,heavy build and looked like he was punched in the noise a few times! Anyone know this guy?? whats his problem?? Perhaps you should have been politer in your refusal. Yeah, WOW! really really dangerous! I'm petrified. I hope I don't get a proposition from a gay, because I would have to politely say no thanks and then he might go to the police and make a false report....terrifying!!!! One day the Thais will sharpen up their vetting of farangs they allow into this country. The sooner the better! The coppers should bust him now for sumitting a false report to police. As someone else mentioned though, getting rude and agressive and telling him to fuc_k off is not really the smart way to go about it. As much as you would like to, in a world crossroads like bangkok and the place you were in, you really do not know who you are dealing with. There are other, better ways to go about it. But alot comes down to experience I guess, knowing how to spot a sleazebag, con man, or potential axe murderer is not easy at times. My apologies for being so negative but I still believe in Thailand today you are more than likely to be taken down by another farang other than a Thai. A mate and I were invited by a few girls to join them for a drink in a hotel bar. There was a Scottish guy with them at the time. A short while later the girl I was chatting with suggested we leave together and we headed to my hotel room. Not long after that I had a knock on the hotel door with a request to open the door for the police. The police talked to the girl and I in separate areas and established nothing was amiss. It turned out this Scottish guy had reported me to the police for kidnapping and raping the girl. They were apologizing to me for the inconvenience when they had a radio message saying a guy was trying to jump off a road overpass. It was the Scottish guy.
