Bit of a rant about something i don't understand..

Tesco's & BIG C have been using Ice Age 3 Promotional Material for God knows what, Signs & Posters etc so one would assume that they'd show it at the Cinema today on it's National Release Date ???

Wrong..

Me : Can i have 1 Adult & 1 Child Ticket for Ice Age 3 please ??

Cineplex : No have on Samui

Me : Why not

Cineplex : No have

Me : Well do you know when you'll be showing it ??

Cineplex : No have, not know

Me : Well can you find out please ??

Cineplex : No have don't know

Me : Do you know if you'll have any other Kids Films here soon ??

Cineplex : No, don't know, no have.

& that was that..

No Kids Films in Tesco's Cineplex for the foreseeable future, the only Cineplex in the Country not shoing Ice Age 3 or ANY Kids Films...

P*ss poor !!

Seriously running out for things for the little one to do on this Island at weekends, even a Movie now & again would be nice & isn't too much to ask for is it ??

The folks at Samui Major Cineplex are just drones; surely you realized that long ago (try calling them, for instance).

I think the promo ads are packaged by corporate in Bangkok and get sent around to all the dumb nodes regardless of whether they will actually come to that particular theater or not.

Why, I wonder, did you ask for tickets to a show that you could easily see from the electronic kiosk wasn't showing. Just wanted to kill the messenger, eh? Movies at the Samui Major Cineplex change on Thursday, almost all the time.

Just pick up the DVD at your local street vendor, make your own popcorn and enjoy.

I didn't realize it because i have never been there before, i didn't actually look at the Electronic Board as i was on the Phone, i didn't want to kill the messenger as i just stupidly assumed that they'd show a Movie which they are Marketing with Posters/Signs etc almost everywhere i look & i don't want to buy the DVD as i wanted to take my Daughter to the Cinema for the first time in her life butm apart from all that Mark, good Post as usual & thanks for your input..

Just think it's sad/bad/crap/wrong that Cinplex dont' feel there's a Market for Kids Films here & that's the point of my initial Post..

Is there a market for films for kids? The answer might be that most Thai films of a "humorous" nature (and that's in quotes since I find them puerile...hey, wait...) are good clean fun and stupid as hel_l. The Thais laugh their heads off during the trailers; I can't imagine the riotous commotion that must go on during the entire film.

And people, much to my chagrin, bring kids to all manner of films here. And, as you might expect, cinema etiquette isn't exactly what you might find in your home country (certainly not Japan, for example).

Half or so of the local films are goofy, slapstick, lowbrow humor -- great for kids. Of course you need to understand Thai. Your child was brought up on a diet of Thai language, or is a 100 percent farang baby?

I think we'll give that a miss Mark, but thanks again for your info...
