Noppawan wins Junior title at Wimbledon:

Noppawan Lertcheewakarn wrote a new chapter in Thailand's tennis history by becoming the first Thai player to lift a Grand Slam singles trophy with a glorious win in the Wimbledon girls' singles final yesterday.

Supanara Issarangkul Na Ayutthaya made Thailand proud on Thursday after capturing the boy's long jump gold medal in the 6th IAAF World Youth Championship in Sudtirol, Italy.

Both from Chiang Mai too.

Given the rise of good players in golf and tennis, do you think Thailand's kids are going to be showing up more often on the world sports scene?

Thailand has seen its share of "wunder-kids". It would be nice to see them carry on and go on to auspicious careers in their respective sports. They have to attain world-class managers for themselves and they may go on to great careers. Their PR people and media-contacts need to be improved upon world-wide, not just in Thailand. They have to be able to sell themselves to the masses world-wide, not just locally. Sorry to say, it is not just pure talent that makes or breaks a new athlete in today's sports environment.
