Is Generic xenical is good for weight loss?

No, regular exercise and a well balanced diet is good for weight loss. Quit looking for a magic pill.

It is very efficient. You gonna lose weight quick...And as soon as you quit the pill, you gonna gain quick and more than you lost.

If you keep on being on pills, then your health is in jeopardy. Do not touch this shit. Change your way of eating and burning calories...It is a safe and long term solution

Oh god, a lecture. Just what the chap needs. Take the pill and worry about exercise later.

I have a foolproof plan. I lost 20kg and it really works. Trouble is, it takes 8 years, but you keep it off.

Moving this to weight loss forum

Xenical, generic or otheriwse, works by partially blocking absortion of fat. It will tend to assist in weight loss in people whose diets contain a fair amount of fat, provided of course you don't then eat even more fat in the belief that the Xenical will take care of it, in which case you may offset it.

It blocks about 1/3 of the ingested fat from being absorbed.

People whose diets are already low in fat and whose main problem is carbs will not benefit in any way from it.

Well maybe thats exactly what the chap needs.... a lecture. it very irrseponsible of you to be advocating the taking medication on an internet forum, without knowing the persons medical history etc

As to SK1max's comments...he is 100% correct.

My Mrs has taken every diet pill/potion known to medical science over the years and yes they work for a little while, after which the weight starts getting put on again.

She resisted my suggestions that she dumped the pills and come to the gym with me and watch what she eats.

Finally after many years she tried the gym etc and she amazed herself how easy the weight came off and stayed off and now cant keep her out the gym and the pills and potions have long been thrown in the bin..

Loosing weight and keeping it off is not rocket science...

My problem is beer. Does that contain fat or carbs?

Beer contains no fat, but ya head might :) ( ust kidding)

Actually I am planning to open a bar where there are no chairs or stools to sit on, just exercise bikes, treadmills and crosstrainers.

Spot on! Amazing, that some just don't get it. Simply, a basic foundation is all one needs.

First thing, you should try your best to keep positive. It's only when you're thinking positive that you have the required motivation to shed off the excess fat. And the great thing is that once you burn off the first couple of pounds, your motivation increases.

Second, do not resort to 'shortcuts' for losing weight. You need to burn those pounds and struggle while doing so. As soon as you have appreciated how much it took to lose those pounds, you will then be more moderate and careful with your diet.

Third, remember to reward yourself one day a week - on that day you should moderately consume what you would normally consume on a regular diet. That way you would have something to look forward to.

Fourth, and it's been preached about in many threads, monitor your calorie intake and make sure you do not consume more than your body requires per day. For a male adult, that would be approximately 2000 K per day.

Fifth, try various types of exercise. Do not restrict yourself to cycling. Try jogging, swimming, walking, or any other sports game. Enjoy your exercise.

I hope this helps.

How much time have you given it ?

Eating moderately does not tell me much, what one considers moderate an other does not. You should write it down and then find out how many calories it is. Its hard but its the only way. Also drinking cola and so on is a sure way to get in a lot of extra calories.

weight loss consultation

I've bought Xenical and get rid off 6kg for a week. Before buying, I've consult with a specialist and very satisfy with the results :)

Sounds a bit far fetched to me. No way you can loose 6 kg of fat in a week. Water weight maybe but fat no way. You have to have a calorie deficit of at least 49.000 calories in a week to acomplish that. Its practically impossible. A normal person uses around 2000 calories on a day. So that would mean burning 3 times as much as a normal person and not eating a thing.

Yes, and it really works. Two months ago I decided I wanted to get myself fitter and lighter as I was feeling pretty crap. Two meals a day comprising Quaker Oats and toast for breakfast and chicken or fish for an evening meal with loads of salad or veggies plus a slice of wholemeal bread has worked wonders. Also keep a supply of apples, grapes and canteloupe in the fridge fro healthy snacking when I feel the need during the day.

A half hour swim in the morning before breakfast and an hours (4km approx) evening walk before dinner does for exercise.

As suggested above a treat, proper meal, once a week gives you something to look forward to and this regime has helped me drop from 93 to 80 kilo's at a rate of about 1.5 kilo's a week. Seeing the weight drop off week by week is also a great incentive.

I had a look at a few calorie counter sites before I started to get an idea what amount of calories per day I required and then put together a rough menu for an appropriate amount. After a couple of days to get used to it, it was simple.

Now the bad news -- I'm not much of a drinker so keeping alcohol intake to a minimum isn't an issue for me. for some it may not be quite so easy.

Good luck to all who try - it can be done!

Just wanted to add that I have taken this Xenical for about a year at the advice of my doctor. It does flush out fat, in a very unusual color (bright orange) and every time you use the toilet it is necessary to clean it properly because it is bright orange and very, very sticky. Mind you the cleaning does get you some excercise. :)

Additionally, I have suffered during that time from embarassing hemorroids, which I think personally, were brought on by the Xenical as well.

In the end, it does not work at all. Only the chemical company making them benefits because they are not for free (quite expensive in Germany where I was staying at the time).

Take the advice of the others on this forum, read the lectures, grind your teeth and go with their proposals. I have started very slowly (coming from 133 kg) and have managed to shed some 5 kg in the last 8 weeks. I would have wanted more but I am happy with the result.

No matter how you slice it, we all know what we need to do and thinking otherwise, is only fooling ourselves.

We are all individuals with different strengths and weaknesses, different health patterns. Counting calories is one way of losing weight but is not enough for some. The reason is because not every overweight condition is due to overeating. There are people who overeat but are slim and many who are overweight but do not overeat. There are many factors coming into play.

Knowing your constitution and the properties of the food you eat and what it does to Your body is the key to be slim and healthy. You might find this website helpful www.TheDreamBodyGuide.com.

To Alant: You are absolutely right we are all different. Don't give up, I hope you find help on the website. In the meantime stay away from every fried food, soft drinks and fruit juices. Drink plenty of water, have hips of vegetables and climb those mountains in the beautiful area you live in.
