PM must be free from swine flu

BANGKOK: -- An academic has warned that Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva must protect himself from being infected by the A (H1N1) flu virus as it would severely affect confidence of Thai and foreign investors.

Pranee Thinakorn, a lecturer at Thammasat University’s economic faculty, said on Saturday the country’s economy would gradually improve in the third and forth quarters of the year inline with the global economy.

The export sector has now received more orders of Thai products from its overseas trade partners. But the government must come up with measures to ensure that the flu outbreak would not hurt the country’s economic recovery.

“The most important thing is that the premier must not be infected by the deadly virus. Otherwise, the government’s stimulus packages would fail to show concrete outcomes in shoring up the economy”, he said.
