First of all I am not blacklisted ....Does someone need to have been covicted of a crime in thailand or there home country to be blacklisted? Can someone be blacklisted by hearsay? I had someone say some crazy shit to me on my last trip? He used to date my girlfriend and stated he could write a letter to the police and have me blacklisted .sounded like a bunch of shit... But I am here for piece of mind.... From what I know he goes to thailand a few times a year. And has no connections with anyone important. Does anyone in immigration have access to place someone on the blacklist... Could he bribe a low ranking immigration officer to place someone on the list..... I thank you all for your help... Thank you... for some odd reason i am feeling very paranoid about this.... and i dont know how there country works... Thanks

No worries. Unless you're on INTERPOL'S most wanted....

But, you have to remember....This Is Thailand.....anything can happen. I doubt that there are any low-ranking officials able to put one on any list to prohibit entry into Thailand. INTERPOL or ten-most-wanted would assuredly get you on one. I sorta think you are safe unless you are a convicted felon somewhere. Have a good visit.

In order to be blacklisted you have to be in breach of the Thai law, being convicted in another country will not effect your status in Thailand unless you are a terrorist. If you are wanted by the Interpol or any other foreign government, then the Thai will let you in and then arrest you and hand you over to them.

The blacklist is not in the hand of low ranking officers, however, by law the immigration can deny you from entering Thailand regardless whether you have a visa or not if they believe that there is enough reason/s to do that, but this is an extreme case and depend on the border you are entering from.

Low educated people, who usually cannot do any thing, use threatening tactics in order to frighten their enemies, but always remember that the dog who bark loudly doesn't bite.

Relax and do not give any attention to this nonsense crab.

Not to scare you but

Yes you can come on the black list for done nothing wrong like a fake police report.

Yes somebody can pay someone to get you on the blacklist.

Yes we have corruption in Thailand

Yes i know some one that is not convicted and not bin laden and he is on the blacklist.

No you will never know who put you on it because as soon as you ask they kick you out.

But i think your friend is BS you

Is it possible to be renoved from the "black-list" status?

Does anyone know the proceedure involved?

Would a formal request to the Thai Embassy be the start or is their more typical legal run-around required that costs a bunch of money and delivers empty promises as usual?

Blacklist is not a grocery shop list that anyone just enter a name and leave it there.

Blacklist has to have a complete full information about the blacklisted people and sent to every border, every embassy and consulate and every immigration office in the country.

Do we have corruption in Thailand? Yes we do but doesn't means that everyone has to be in danger, discriminated and living in fear just because some crook got jealous of him!

There must be a reason to list that someone you mentioned, but I bet it is not because he dated someone else girlfriend, nor by a crook paid bribes to someone do so.

Lastly, by law, yes he has the right to know why he was blacklisted and can fight it in the court of law if he is innocent.

Do not try to frighten people and if there was any case related to this subject, it has to be an individual one.

I have been threatened by many enemies, crooks and business competitors who do not lack of funds and power, and yet I am still here and I will remain as long as I wish as long as I am clean.

Have a nice day

Not sure if that is quite true. I read in this forum that the blacklist is on the immigration computer, but you can still get a visa to come here, i.e., it is not at the Embassies. People who are blacklisted should keep this in mind, to avoid wasted time and money travelling to Thailand on a valid visa, only to find that they get refused entry at the point of arrival where the fact that they are blacklisted appears on the immigration computer system.

Well, that is because the embassy did not check and not because they do not have it. First world embassies make sure that you are not listed before issuing you a visa, but third world embassies are not keen about that.

Earlier this year there was a Swiss reporter who was arrested on arrival at the airport.

Some charity had filed a defamation charge against him, not black listed just arrested.

So I reckon it is possible to make life uncomfortable for someone if you really want.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Leading-Swis...ed-t247311.html

He was later released with no charges but i think thats cos he had good connections and a good

embassy. Unlike the UK dossers.

Edit:

Unless you punched or insulted the guy in front of witnesses nothing to worry about.

He would need some evidence unless he's friendly with BIB. :)

From what I understand, your best friend regarding this blaclisting is time. Your name seems to dissapear after a said period. The basic foundation of blacklisting angst isn't anywhere severe here as other parts of the world.....mai phen lai spirit is alive.

You missed out second world embassies.

Why?

This is a nice one; obviously there is no country wants to admit that they are from the third world, however this category division was created by the western in the past, and as there were no second world countries at that time, they just left it open for the country that shows some kind of development to place it there; unfortunately none was placed there because the few countries, which have developed economically, were placed as a first world countries, and the rest remain and they probably will remain for ever in the their place. Look where you live now and tell me how much it changed from 2 decades ago? and if there is any changes, is it to better or worse? I leave it up to you.

Thanks for the comment

Let's get the definition right. Thailand is not Third World. It is a Newly Industrialised Country. You are probably calling it third world through your personal perception of the place, rather than any objective viewpoint.

Not sure that's true either:

Blacklisting seems to be forever, and isn't expunged after any given period of time.

I do not know what is your background education, however I am not going to argue with you about this subject because it is not really connected to the main question, and it was just a side comment.

You can place any country, anywhere you want, and that will never change the fact.

Let's keep in the main subject, otherwise this will be going no where for ever.

Thank you again for your comment, and have a very good morning.

Even that does not get you on the Thai Blacklist. :)

You can be blacklisted and still obtain a visa from a Thai embassy outside of Thailand, I know this for a fact.

Correct.
