In the olden days, the armored "knights" were at the front (honour etc etc) , Modern day warefare: The instigators of any sort of warfare sit in bunkers, far away from any "action". It works perfectly well as there is never a shortage of "soldiers" that believe that as long as the "government" insists that a war is "inevitable", they are willing to serve as "cannon fodder". In the name of the country, or (if that doesn't help), in the name of "God". 7000 years of recorded history: Nothing learned. Sadly.
