Hi all,

I will be flying into Surat Thani in September and visiting Samui for the 1st time with my filipina wife...

I have travelled maak maak in Thailand BUT 1st visit ti Samui, so was hoping to get some info to save arguments, disagreements and misunderstandings with locals and short track my travel without spending more then necessary........

Ok........ I arrive Surat Thani by Air Asia at 1255....and am staying at My QXpress Chaweng (The Room)

Questions.....

1

Does arrival time allow me to get ferry?

Best way to get from Surat Thani to ferry departure point?

Do I book this at airport?

Do I get Taxi, if so how much? Is there a best place to grab taxi from?

Is there a combination bus /ferry/bus to Chaweng?

2

What ferry options do I have at arrival time allowing for travel time from airport to ferry

3

Best way to Hotel from arrival pointy Samui.....taxi? baht bus? donkey ?

K thks all ..heaps in advance for your input.....

There will be buses outside the airport waiting to take you to the ferry port at Donsak. Price around 300/400 Baht including the ferry ticket.

Once in Nathon there will be all manor of transportation and touts waiting for the ferry.

Do not get a Taxi. You will be ripped off. Get one of the maroon coloured Sonthaews to Chaweng. Price 50 or 60 Baht. The driver should know the place you are staying and drop you outside.

Have a good holiday and avoid the Yellow Taxis. They are a scam.

Once their official work day is over you have to negotiate like a taxi. Does anyone know what time that is?
